Many years ago, I had a wonderful experience mentoring Goldie Hawn. Long before she inspired millions of children through MindUP, @goldiehawn had already captured hearts around the world through iconic films. She spent time with me in India at my monastery, learning, meditating, and exploring the deeper workings of the mind. During that same period, I was also guiding @michaeljackson through meditations over Skype. Both journeys were unfolding in parallel. What touched me most was not her legendary success in Hollywood, but her sincere desire to understand the human mind and help children live with greater calm, resilience, and joy. Inspired by her inner journey, she went on to create @mindup , which has since helped millions of children around the world develop mindfulness, emotional regulation, and mental wellbeing. Today, as @dianebacchus1 and I build @ahhaa.app as a positive mind impact platform for the world, I am reminded that one person with a genuine intention can create ripples that touch millions of lives. When we help people understand their own minds, we are shaping the future of humanity. #GoldieHawn #MindUP #MichaelJackson #MindFitness #Ahhaa

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but these numbers don’t belong to just one month. 1 in 5 adults. 1 in 5 kids. So many people quietly carrying something you might never see. Most mental health challenges begin early, often before we have the language or support to understand what’s happening. Which makes how we show up for ourselves and each other matter even more. What would it look like to treat mental health with the same openness, care, and consistency as physical health? If this brings something up for you, consider that a starting point, not something to push past. At The Wellness Oasis, we’re here to hold space for these conversations in a way that feels honest, supportive, and human. Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing reflections, tools, and perspectives around mental health. Take what resonates, come back to what you need, and know you’re not alone in any of it. For now, please visit our non-profit organizations on the second slide @active_minds @kevinlovefund @mindup @projecthealthyminds for help and resources. A little known fact about me: I LOVE @goldiehawn From the first time I saw The First Wives Club (at age 12), I wanted to be Elise Elliot 🤩😆 Side note: the uncanny similarity in our bangs/haircut made my entire day 🤍

THANK YOU to everyone from District 24 who came out to yesterday’s Let’s Talk About It! Students had a fulfilling day — from learning about mindfulness, emotional awareness, positive communication and more. They left with tools to express themselves in healthy and engaging ways. Another thank you to Washburn and the River for their amazing performance. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and an overall beautiful day!

It’s amazing to realize that @goldiehawn founded @mindup 23 years ago to improve children's mental health. 2003 was the year before @facebook was founded and social media changed our lives. Still youthful, brilliant, and pioneering at 80(!), Goldie has a new book series that shows kids that life is better with fun, laughs, and occasional brain breaks. Listen to the extraordinary Goldie Hawn on LIFT wherever you get your podcasts!

Stretching is easy to skip. It doesn’t feel urgent. It’s not the “main event.” But that’s exactly why it matters. Goldie Hawn built @mindup on a simple idea: when you slow down and tune in, you change how you show up—in your body, in your thoughts, in your life. Stretching is that moment. It’s where your breath catches up to your body. Where tension has somewhere to go. Where your mind stops racing and starts listening. 5 minutes before a workout. A few movements between meetings. A quiet reset at the end of the day. It’s not extra. It’s connection. And the more connected you are—to your body, your breath, your awareness—the stronger everything else becomes. 5–8 Minute Stretch Reset (Before You Train) → Start with motion, not stillness Think wake up the body, not force flexibility → Upper Body (2–3 min) Arm circles Shoulder rolls Torso twists → Lower Body (2–3 min) Leg swings (front + side) Walking lunges Hip circles → Make it kinetic Keep it moving—no long holds Flow, don’t force → Finish with breath Inhale to lengthen Exhale to release
