What a great turnout at the NYC Clinical Connection presentation last week!
Dr. Sarah Church, CEO of @wholeviewnyc , led an insightful session on Mentalization Based Theory (MBT). MBT is a powerful tool that helps restore reflective capacity (AKA staying level-headed) when emotional stress takes over. Attendees walked away with practical tools to turn intense moments into real opportunities for connection.
Thanks, Dr. Church, for lending your expertise!

It’s teacher appreciation week and let me tell you the best one you have to count on to give you what deserve is YOU. It’s important to embrace the art of conserving energy while teaching. We know this job will suck every last bit of life out of you if you let it. And when you protect your own energy, you are a better teacher, a happier person in general. The kids will feel it too. But hey, this is about you.
We don’t talk enough about making sure our lessons are structured in a way that lets us conserve our own energy. And we should. Yes, a lot of us are using scripted curriculums but there are ways to modify to make sure that we give ourselves the best shot we have to keeping our peace. I taught through two pregnancies, herniated discs…and what I learned was doing less on my part didn’t equal students doing less. In fact…it can be the opposite.
I am just one person but I know what tricks I would swear by. Comment “ENERGY” and I’ll DM you a list of a few tips to help preserve yourself throughout the week.
And veteran teachers—put your tips below. We need to share the wealth!!!
We’ve all been there: emotional stress takes over and we lose the ability to think about why we (and our clients) are feeling a certain way. When that reflective capacity goes offline, Mentalization Based Theory (MBT) helps bring us back on track.
Join us in person this Friday, 5/8 from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM for a free NYC Clinical Connection presentation!
Dr. Sarah Church, CEO of @wholeviewnyc , will lead a practical session on:
🙍Clinical tripwires: How attachment triggers shut down regulation
🛟Restoring safety: Using MBT to get the therapeutic process moving again
âś…Real-world applications: Moving from theory to practice
Lunch is provided! NYS Social Work & LMHC will earn 1 CE Credit from this session.
