From point A to point B - the process becomes as much a part of the work as the studio. Studio, installation, exhibition, and the myriad of conversations along the way… it’s all the journey. The work never stops becoming.
Shout out to @deb_b_dull9.12@morabitostudio and @sashahallock for always being such an integral part of that conversation.
These images are from my January show @artcake_nyc ✨
Right now I have 3 works up, spread over 2 group shows in NYC, 1 in Chelsea and 2 in Greenwich Village - if you’re in the area, check them out. You can find details in previous posts on my IG or through martindullart.com. The first two works pictured are still available…
Thanks to @artphotobiz for capturing these images. 🙌

Throwback to January and the installation of my solo exhibition, “Worship & Tribute” @artcake_nyc - a pivotal moment in unpacking and understanding my current practice.
“Deconstructing familiar tropes, such as the cruciform, the grid, and the body, my work establishes a humanistic command of form and abstraction. Scale becomes the relative factor – the viewer can’t help but supplant the anthropomorphic into the sculptures or the atmospheric into the paintings. Through these allusions, I intend to evoke a sense of personhood and place where no objective personhood or place are present. This opens the imagination to a myriad of associations; outsider art, abstract expressionism, and perhaps most prevalently, that of Western spaces of worship. It is my belief that our propensity for associating space and object with the transcendental and metaphysical is one of the most basic human experiences.”
Thank you to @artphotobiz for the great install shot!
Created from fragments of other failed experiments and studio detritus, these small works have become a rich extension of my practice. Often displayed as “constellations”, the individual pieces are considered independently, as singular entities. The installation becomes a reaction to the space they are presented - a “constellation” of objects always shifting depending on external factors.
This becomes a metaphor for humanity - the way a singular body shifts within context, both internally and externally. Powerful in their own right, the collective asserts an even more profound presence. Perhaps strength in numbers?
In any case, relationships become the primary focus; dependent on the individual but made profound by the collective.
Here’s another set of studio portraits made by @artphotobiz after the closing of Worship & Tribute. Thanks to @andrewschwartzstudio for taking the time to capture these images.
