It took us some time to process this very special second edition of Melisma and to narrow it down to just ten images, but here’s a first selection from the last event. We took on the challenge of bringing together an art market, performances, concerts and DJ sets, all in one (huge!) space, and it truly felt like something meaningful took shape together. Something we’re deeply grateful for what emerged, and for all who shaped it: Mahalla, the crowd, the artists, the team, the volunteers, and everyone supporting along the way. MELISMA X MAHALLA ART MARKET 🌟 2/2 12:00-22:00 — 7. March A second preview of the artists and makers featured at the Art Market at @mahallaberlin CAPTAIN JOHN + FADE OUT Label When two queer activists meet — @captainjohnstudio , a non-binary trans portrait photographer, and @fadeoutlabel , an artisan fashion project focused on inclusivity and upcycling — an explosive collaboration is born, blending photography, art, and clothing. Gamma Sky @gamma__sky Words are useless. Especially sentences. (Quoting Madonna and Bjork) Headpiece designer since 2016, an occasional performer who also dabbles in art installations. NAPA Design @na_pa.design Nanna, the artist behind NAPA, creates one-of-a-kind jewelry blending macramé, reclaimed materials, and metal. Each piece centers around a hex nut - symbol of strength, connection, and quiet rebellion. Brocantelanuit Inspired by graffiti culture, absurdity, and the freedom to be yourself, @brocantelanuit rework textures and shapes to pull you into a colorful, underground universe. 100% handmade with a local Nantes twist, I breathe new life into fabrics that were destined for the trash. Joachim Schulte Franco-German photographer, born in Paris, and based in Berlin, @j_schulte.h is been documenting people since 2018 and atmospheres, capturing fleeting moments as they happen. No staging, just being present. He works with both film and digital, and always pays close attention to detail. Hannah Lucia @anahatalucia want to bring you closer to the power and magic of our plants and wants us to remember the old knowledge of the healers. Because against every suffering a herb has grown that we can use on different levels. Hornies Berlin @hornies.berlin are handmade accessories that clip into your hair or onto a hat, instantly transforming your look into something cheeky and playful. Each design is unique! MELISMA X MAHALLA Performance - 11PM Carmen Lafran @carmen_lafran Berlin-based transdisciplinary performer, movement artist and lecturer Carmen Lafran presents PERLE AI PORCI, an ongoing performance series in confrontation with patriarchal structures of control and objectification. Bridging Butoh dance theatre, performance art and feminist critique, their work foregrounds the body as a site of denunciation, ambiguity and transformation. Situated within a play at times ironic at times evocative, movements unfold as a deliberate destabilization, exposing the mechanisms that discipline and regulate bodies. Lafran works internationally as a soloist and in collaborative projects across institutional and underground stages. ꧂ From 2pm until late ! MELISMA X MAHALLA Main guest ✨️ 2AM DengueDengueDengue @denguedenguedengue DngDngDng is the project of Peruvian producers Felipe Salmón and Rafael Pereira, a duo that has established itself as a beacon of global electronic music thanks to its constant rhythmic metamorphosis. Their sound focuses on the total disruption of patterns and the experimentation with rhythms, creating compositions that connect directly with the dance floor. Each release is an invitation to a sonic journey rooted in fusion and polyrhythm. MELISMA X MAHALLA A second peek at the artists behind the booth: Ragantras @ragantras Berlin-based sound designer, Luka Glonti delivers immersive, textural techno rooted in precision and atmosphere. Influenced by Georgian heritage and Berlin’s electronic underground, his sound blends evolving textures, deep rhythmic ꧂ Courtroom Drama @courtroomdrama_ Courtroom drama is the moniker of Berlin-based, Brazilian-born multidisciplinary electronic artist Jose Teixeira. His work pushes the boundaries of contemporary leftfield electronic music, skillfully weaving his latin heritage with elements of uk soundsystem culture into abstract, forward-thinking cuts of breakbeat, dubstep, house, and techno. ꧂ El Khalfi @jonquiphile French DJ living in Marseille, El Khalfi has multiple influences, style roots and atmospheres, from ambient or dubstep to breakbeat & baile. MELISMA x MAHALLA Performances Perpetual • Study II @tzin_trick @aheich_ An existential study of transformations Sound collapses inward. A body unravels its outline — leaving behind laws, leaving behind meaning. Only echoes remain. Nothing settles. 📸 : @rod.gill.photography ꧂ Resonant Bodies @emmalaule Resonant Bodies is an experimental contemporary circus performance that unfolds within a landscape of suspended granite stones and a vertical rope. The stone mobile installation comes together into a delicate balance in which the performer becomes an integral part. On the vertical rope or among the stones she plays with gravity, using it, resisting it. In those encounters, the relationship between body and object becomes fluid — at times tender, at times resistant. Soft skin meets rough mineral. Muscles yield to weight. Grip answers gravity. The body does not dominate instead, it enters into a state of resonance: a mutual responsiveness between human and object, where movement is not imposed but negotiated. Resonant Bodies is a beautiful and moving visualization of the ever-conflicting notions of gravity and weightlessness, resistance and surrender, roughness and tenderness. —--------- From 2pm until late! MELISMA x MAHALLA Secret guests 🌘 After much anticipation, we’re finally revealing the secret guest DJs who will take over @mahallaberlin next week! Alexia @alexiavanm Berlin-based and London-born, DJ Alexia plays long-form sets shaped by patience, warmth, and careful track selection. Her sound moves across tempos and genres without locking into a single style, guided instead by mood, timing, and the energy of the room. Influenced by Berlin’s dance floors and late-night sessions, she focuses on building trust with the crowd letting things breathe, stretch, and shift naturally rather than pushing constant peaks. Her digging-driven approach allows her to adapt fluidly, from playful and groove-led moments to deeper, more hypnotic states. ꧂ Juana Valeria @juana.valeria Colombian DJ and producer currently based in Germany, her productions are divided into two branches: one oriented towards electronic indie and the other focused on club music. Her sound is characterized by textured synthesizers, broken percussion, dark atmospheres, as well as tender sounds and dynamic rhythms. Through a unique collage and assemblage, we appear as incongruous, strange, and shimmering visions. MELISMA X MAHALLA ☀️ Day time Concerts ☀️ @nonagonforest Nonagon Forest is a collaboration between multidisciplinary artists Federico Focha and EIREEN. Inspired deeply by mysticism and their practice as counselors, their love for exploring existence through symbols, archetypes and mythology comes to life within their music. Live-loopings of guitar, percussion, flutes and other instruments melt with their voices, making every performance a unique experience. ꧂ @giorgiamaymusic Stemming originally from Brighton (UK), Giorgia-May has been pursuing a musical career through the means of travel. Now based in Berlin, she combines sensual lyrics, mesmerising tones and exciting arrangements. Blending Soulful melodies, Jazzy chords and hints of RnB, she draws upon influences such as Cleo Sol, Jordan Rakei and Amy Winehouse.
