When you create very specific Machines… you need very specific tools 🔧
What most people don’t realize is that we actually have an in-house team dedicated to developing those tools! Every caliber comes with its own weird cradles, weird gaskets, weird sapphire… nothing is standard.
So yeah, to quote @kingflum here: “sometimes you use normal tools… to build special tools… to build weird watches” 😂
Four automotive-inspired Horological Machines, together for the first time 🙌
The story continues with the HM8 Can-Am WT and the HM8 Mark 2 Blue, two Machines that push MB&F’s automotive inspiration even further.
. HM8 Can-Am WT, not a limited edition but only 36 pieces ever produced, with polished titanium roll bars inspired by Can-Am race cars and a fully exposed movement beneath open sapphire crystal.
. HM8 Mark 2 Blue, limited to 33 pieces. It brings together the supercar bodywork of HM5, the compact ergonomics of HMX and the exposed mechanics of HM8, wrapped in glossy sapphire blue body panels with a prism-based display.
As with all MB&F Certified Pre-Owned pieces, both watches have undergone a complete check-up in our Geneva workshop, including polishing, full movement servicing, water-resistance testing and time regulation by our watchmakers 🔎

Long before MB&F, @maxbusser dreamed of becoming a car designer. That passion shaped a whole family of Horological Machines, starting with the HM5 and the HMX.
. HM5 Zirconium On the Road Again, limited to 66 pieces, with its wedge-shaped case inspired by 1970s Italian supercars, louvres that control the light entering the dial, and an optical system that projects the time display to the front of the case.
. HMX Black Badger Purple Reign, limited to 18 pieces, with bi-directional jumping hours, trailing minutes, and a solid lume engine cover that bathes the entire movement in vivid purple light after dark.

Kicking off the series is his latest Machine Light, the ML15 Helios. Limited to 15 pieces, it’s conceived as a mechanical sun - powerful, calm and precise. A central spherical bulb glows within a halo-like ring, framed by two transparent blue circles that evoke an eye or a measuring instrument. As with all of Frank’s creations, each piece is entirely handcrafted and takes weeks to complete 🦾
