The art of Japanese Swordsmithing is as sacred as it is legendary. Estimates vary, but today there are fewer than 300 Swordsmiths working in Japan today, with only a handful consider to be Masters. Takamasa Yamamura (Masamune XXV) is one of them. Working from his ancestral forge in Kamakrua, Japan, he is the 24th generation of Master Swordsmith in his family - a lineage which stretches back 800 years. While he does currently have an apprentice, he is not a direct descendent. Whether or not he is the last of his family to practice his craft remains to be seen.
