As a grand finale to my research studio at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago I have invited Jo Cunningham and her Freak Family to park their trailer show outside of the SAIC 280 building. This will happen on Friday 5/15 from 11am -3pm in the street parking directly in front of 280 S Columbus Dr, Chicago, IL 60603. It’s free and open to the public although Jo is taking donations in order to continue her cross country tour Jo Cunningham is a self-taught sculptor and creator of  The Freak Family Roadshow, a traveling sculptural installation partly inspired by underground comics written by her father in the 1980s. The Freak Family features a gorilla mother, an alien father, and their strange love child, all trapped in an eternal time loop inside a canned-ham-style 1950s trailer.  Thank you @compoundyellow for the introduction to @the_freakfamily

Dinner Party 🍽️ Thank you to everyone who gathered, shared food, shared space, and made this work possible. To all of the performers — thank you for your trust, endurance, generosity, and willingness to move through discomfort together. The stained shirts feel like evidence of care, labor, intimacy, and excess all at once. And thank you @chrisgeal_ for photographing this preformance And thank you to Mayfield for holding the space for this work to unfold. Dinner Party explored consumption, etiquette, control, care, and the strange choreography of eating together. What happens when personal offerings become communal? When serving shifts into surrender? When bodies negotiate closeness around a table?

Plaster process videoooo 🍽️I’m so excited to finally see this project start to come to life. I cast my entire body in plaster and began transforming it into something completely new—a giant plate. This piece is part of a larger idea I’ve been building toward, and it’s slowly turning into a performance I’ll be sharing soon. Documenting every step because the process feels just as important as the final piece.

ECHOES of FORM Featuring works by Winnie Weiyun Szu and Matthew Herriot Curated by Héloïse Paillard In ‘Echoes of Form’, Szu and Herriot exemplify a reluctance to see painting as inherently referential, instead giving their works freedom to refer to nothing but themselves. In doing so, they shift perceptual focus from image recognition to an insistence that paintings can only be fully known through close visual attention, one small observation at a time. January 31 - April 6 2026 Opening reception: Sat, Jan 31, 2026 2:00 - 6:00 pm MAYFIELD (In the gym space) 505 Marengo Ave Forest Park, IL 60130 Contact: [email protected] [email protected] Open hours: By appointment only. “Wind Guide” is also on view through April 6 Image caption: Left Winnie Weiyun Szu, Yellow (detail), 2024, Egg oil tempera on panel, 9”x12” Right Matthew Herriot, Untitled (detail) , 2025, Acrylic on anodized aluminum 22” x 36” @winnie.szu @mattherriot @helopaillard

In conjunction with Wind Guide and sharing an opening reception, Mayfield is proud to present Many Full Circles a project by Megann Lawlor and Isabella Aguilar taking place in the 2nd floor gym. Many Full Circles October 5-November 10,2025 Opening Reception Sunday, October 5, 2025 Many Full Circles explores today’s polka dot craze in the context of late-stage capitalism, where economic instability and absurdity feel ever-present. The exhibition considers the polka dot as both a symbol of comfort and nostalgia, and the circle as a tool for data, organization, and representation. Drawing from Circulism, the belief that everything returns to cycles and circular forms show reflects on how we make sense of chaos through repetition, pattern, and shape. Wind Guide October 5–April 6, 2025 Opening Reception: Sunday, Oct 5 2–6pm We met the wind before. It took on human form, walking the streets of Chicago in plain clothes and humble appearance. They were a bit elusive but had a great sense of clarity and direction. They were kind and gracious, asking for nothing in return. We have decided to let the wind guide our next exhibition. Using elements of chance and coincidence as curation methods we have invited a group of 25 artists to create a series of wind chimes that will be installed on Mayfield’s perimeter. Through this ges-ture, we will amplify the wind’s voice in order to see what it has to say. - V Slovick Andi Crist Edra Soto Ruby Que John Preus bex ya yolk Nick Chiado Ieva Tersigni Sierra Zucker Mikey Mosher Sam Fresquez Pedro Albertini David Sprecher Kazuki Guzmán Jefferson Pinder Douglas Malone Meesh Kislyakov Mauricio López F.
