London is haunted by properties owned offshore, often used to avoid tax, launder money etc. Armed with a 3D scanner, I've been turning them into ghost houses, to document the effects they have on London. My new project Offshore Capital is featured in @thetimes today. Thanks to @manu_midolo for the write up of this. Really enjoyed screening my film London Knowledge at @arebyte 's first BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) screening evening on the 28th March at their new Digital Art Centre site in Camden Town. It was shown in the gallery spaces alongside 61 other short digital moving images from UK and international artists. There was a great turnout and it was so nice to be in a room with so many digitally focused makers, hanging out and connecting. More like this please! Cheers to Titash at Arebyte for the documentation imagery in this post ๐Ÿ“ธ

London Knowledge, 2020 The Knowledge of London is the in-depth study of over 300 London street routes and thousands of places of interest that must be completely memorized by any aspiring driver who wants a license to operate in Londonโ€™s black taxi cab profession. This short film features two interviews with London taxi drivers who recount their experience of โ€˜doing the Knowledgeโ€™. Accompanying these interviews are animated Lidar scans of London. Lidar is a laser-based 3D mapping technology used by self-driving cars to see and navigate. The film creates overlays and contrasts between machine and man-made methods of mapping, parsing, and navigating the experiential complexity of the cityโ€™s street network. What knowledge and history will be lost when automated driving takes over Londonโ€™s streets? - Looking forward to a little re-screening of this film as part of @arebyte 's Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB) moving image event tomorrow 28 March 2026. It will be screened alongside 61 experimental digital and moving-image works by artists from London's digital art scene, alongside artists from across the UK and internationally, featuring predominantly recent work (2023-2025) responding to arebyte's 2026-28 theme, REBOOT: Recoding Reality. - Sat 28 March 2026 - 4-7pm - arebyte Digital Art Centre, 25-27 Camden Road, NW1 9LN London

Nice to have Offshore Capital, my ongoing project recording the shadowy architecture of offshore finance in the British Isles featured as part of @Der_Greif 's most recent online exhibition on 'Architectures of Power', curated by the photographers @SarkerProtick and @DonaldWeber . Proud to show work amongst the set of photographers selected. Link to check the series in my bio and curatorial text below. "Architectures of Power" "Power drifts between what is visible and what is hidden. Images act like decrees, shaping how we see land, people, and histories. They have been used to plan, police, extract, and persuade but they can also challenge and resist those forces. Power is not abstract; it is material. It is built, zoned, cooled, metered, lit, and secured. It lives in roads, substations, fibre routes, warehouses, ports, and data centres โ€“ the architectures of power that draw energy and water, control movement, and reshape neighbourhoods. Photography can trace these structures, making so-called โ€˜immaterialโ€™ ideologies tangible by showing how they bind energy, water, land, and labour. Histories persist in easements, parcel lines, and place names, shaping how power is experienced, felt, and lived. Archives are infrastructures too โ€“ systems that classify, index, and withhold. Photographs have long served states and corporations as tools of proof and persuasion. Yet they also circulate as counter-evidence, disrupting official records and surfacing local and situated knowledge. We invite series that treat photography not only as expression, but also as method and evidence. Field photographs, rephotography, technical or administrative images, public records, and community documentation are all welcome โ€“ alongside more interpretive and experimental approaches." #DerGreif #GuestRoom #ContemporaryPhotography #DeutscheBorsePhotographyFoundation #ArchitecturesOfPower #SarkerProtick #DonaldWeber

'The fast foreign carsโ€ฆ' 3D laser engraved glass, LED stand Edition of 5 + 2 AP 12 x 6 x 6cm 2021 When doing research into Londonโ€™s wealthy district of Knightsbridge for a film I made about extravagant building projects in the capital, it became apparent that there was an โ€˜us and themโ€™ dynamic between the older and newer users / residents of the area. One cause of local tension was the prevalence of flashy โ€˜foreignโ€™ sports cars and their drivers on neighbourhood streets. Remarks on the style and provenance of the vehicles from some residents felt like a more acceptable means for them to express other kinds of fear / dislike / distrust. It was also eye-opening that this kind of racialised โ€˜us and themโ€™ dynamic was also happening in its own ways in elite London, not just areas of high deprivation across the UKโ€ฆ I was commissioned to make the sculpture for a show on architecture and artist film @weissenhofgalerie in Stuttgart way back in 2021. Thanks to Melanie van der Hoorn and @elkeknoess . The sculpture can be seen as part of the show 'The City of Shrouded Hills'. It is positioned close to a few other glass sculptures Iโ€™ve made as well as @james_randell_ 's gorgeous print โ€˜Cross after Easter (go, year, and into timeโ€™s abyssโ€™). The show is open again 12-6 this Friday 26th and Saturday 27th, after which it will close for good. Pics by myself.

Now open @florencetrust ! 12-6 weekends til 27th September. 'The city of shrouded hills' brings together five artists whose practices work with materialities, histories, communities, and imaginaries of London. Working across media spanning sculpture, painting, sound, video, photography, installation, performance and printmaking, the work offers a glimpse of the city not as something whole but as a collection of fragments. A series of โ€˜Londonsโ€™ are here: hidden architectures of plutocratic wealth; the intricate tapestries of the high street; the fantastical dreams of the bored civil servant; the wayward muse of psychogeographers, exhuming the drab, the elegant, warts and all; a land of forgotten bones, shells, and jewels beneath river mud waiting for their metamorphosis.
