The stuff this silly little chav gets up to are 🤯 It's all because everything I now call life is due to recording studios. I've spent months fighting in my role at @musicproducersguild to keep them alive, and it's been an uphill battle. But seeing talented friends rally behind the campaign at the Music Producers Guild Awards gave me goosebumps.
For people from my background, who are often lost, overlooked, and demeaned, studios offered a lifeline. Let's keep them open as they not just a creative outlet, a place where magic happens, a windowless room with insane gear. For us, they are the only gateway into the music industry. Let's #saveourstudios
The MPG met with the Financial Secretary to The Treasury, Lord @spencer_livermore at @ukhmtreasury to discuss the impact business rates are having on recording studios. From that we have managed to secure a limited update to the guidence regarding Retail, Hospitality, and Leisure.
This is a first step, and discussions are on going regarding wider support for studios. But we’d like to thank the minister and the treasury for their support and openness to tackle the issue. A special thank you to the lords who have championed our cause.
FALLING DOWN is out now!!!!
Does being the gig a day guy actually make a difference? Please show this song some love so we can find out 👀
All shares on the story and to friends are massively important. Thanks so much to everyone who’s supported the journey so far.

The pressure of and unfit-for-purpose business rates system has long been a burden on @motormuseumstudio and its peers. Last time we had a reevaluation a 10% rise in rateable value equated to a 50% rise in rates bill. I actively want to expand the studio to increase capacity but business rates are one of the main hurdles in the way. Huge thankyou to @thetimes@musicproducersguild@matttaylor___@deanststudios for advocating for a fairer system and ensuring growth in our incredible, world leading hit factories 👏 link to the article in my story.
Such a gorgeous evening with fantastic @goldftstone . I completed my time as Chair and co chair late last year, so it was lovely to have dinner to celebrate, reflect and to think about the future ❤️ Beautiful food and exceptional service at @pip.mcr@maryellenmctague ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yesterday, the Music Producers Guild, together with UK Music (@_ukmusic ) and joined by legendary producer Paul Epworth (@paulepworth ), delivered our open letter to Number 10 Downing Street. We are deeply grateful for the support shown by our members and the wider music community. We now hope the Government will reconsider its position on business rates.
We’re excited to introduce the panel chairs for the Class Ceiling conference.
Each of them brings unique experience and insight to this needed conversation.
These are the voices leading the discussions, so let’s get to know them✨

Huge congratulations to @matttaylor___ for yet another accolade! Matt grew up in the UK care system and made his way through a child&teenhood lacking in family, care and unconditional love. Today, he is an award winning writer and music producer. His writing is dazzling. Sharp, shocking and eminently readable. Check out underclasshero.substack.com
