Cape Town 2025 with @kelseyrlarkin @jedherold and @friendsandfamily.tv First time for me in this beautiful part of the world and couldn’t have had a more gracious and talented crew to shoot with. Thanks to Dale + the @afsproductions team and most of all Kelsey for having me join her. At one point while mulling through our options for a certain location I asked Gaffer @tobiesmuts what his thoughts were and he said something along the lines of “when we were here with Hoyte last month* he wanted to do…”. Once I picked my jaw up off the floor I asked if we could do that and he said yes, so we did that and it worked wonderfully. *probably wasn’t exactly last month but you get what I mean, the crew was incredible. Any Canadian friends who’ve seen my “walking cane” top handle drop down rigging lately it was in Cape Town that I first encountered that build via 1st AC @damowalsh81 and very luckily went home with my own custom milled piece to do it in the future. The results of everyone’s hard work in last posts BTS @lomography horizons of @by.chrisbrown x @courageideas x @skip_canada Gaffer @kaython and her team split into 2 units in order to have us lit and powered at our exterior location while simultaneously building out this studio setup to provide the spots big reveal. In the end we wound up with a 5 stage cue on the wide and a variety of human powered pans + tilts on the closeups to bring things to life. Shooting all of the multimedia emojis / home video / weather reports off of an old CRT still brings me great joy. The sound and slight tickle of touching your fingers to the screen feels like time travel. @sweetnessthemovie trailer is out and I’m so stoked to start sharing pieces of this movie with the world. Director @emmaaverage had us all so invested in this story and I’ll forever cherish the time in North Bay working with so many great people to make it happen. The movie goes live in the US on Feb 13th and then will be in Canadian theatres on the 6th of March!
