THE GUARDIANS OF THE ROSES
A cinematic short film conceptualized and directed by Tunisian-French filmmaker Taqwa Bint Ali for AMOUAGEâs 2026 Rose Harvest campaign.
Set in the mountains of Jabal Akhdar, the film offers a poetic exploration of intergenerational transmission and the enduring legacy of Omanâs rose harvesting tradition.Through Taqwa Bint Aliâs vision, the harvest is reframed not as a seasonal ritual, but as an act of guardianship. It becomes a quiet and conscious responsibility carried from one generation to the next.
Opening at dawn, the film establishes a sense of ritual and intention before the harvest begins. From intimate moments inside the home to expansive scenes across the rose fields, the narrative builds toward a simple but resonant idea: becoming a guardian is not an obligation imposed by the past, but a choice made for the future.
The film was produced by Studio HARAKA, with Osama Mutasem serving as producer and Mathias Zivanovic as DOP, whose visual approach captures both the intimacy of family life and the scale of the Omani landscape. Together, the team brings Taqwa Bint Aliâs vision to life with a focus on authenticity, restraint, and cinematic precision.
The Guardians of the Roses forms part of AMOUAGEâs ongoing commitment to storytelling rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and cultural identity.
