History explains the roots of the people’s problems. It also offers lessons and glimpses of the solution. Study history well. We have the power to change its course. We are releasing these three songs on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of Martial Law in the Philippines to join the voices of the Filipino masses who refuse to let history repeat itself. The Filipino people are flooding the streets with protests to call out the corrupt government that runs on bureaucrat capitalism, the Marcos and Duterte families’ legacies of “nepo-babies”, their outright stealing of the people’s wealth, and fascist repression. History shows that the people will rise up and topple dictators. A new society is possible. materialsupport.bandcamp.com All songs by Material Support Recorded and mastered by Sasha Stroud Additional vocals by @esn36 Album art by @artbyhenryluke Band photo by @megmatpic (And happy 10 year anniversary to us!)

⛓️‍💥 RUN AMOK ⛓️‍💥 💥ASIAN AMERICANS IN HARDCORE PUNK💥 Free show on November 1! 7:30pm David Rubenstein Atrium, Lincoln Center 1887 Broadway, NYC Three Asian American-led East Coast hardcore punk bands—No Model, Material Support, and Dog Breath—join forces for an epic showcase. The name of the evening, “Run Amok,” intentionally refers to “Amok Syndrome,” a behavioral pattern formerly once recognized by the American Psychiatric Association as a “culture-bound syndrome”—born out of the European misdiagnosis of Asian and Indigenous peoples’ spirit of defiance in the face of colonization. Lyrically, these groups create music that addresses generational trauma, racism, war, social justice, and liberation in service of opening a conversation about the state of the punk scene and the use of the genre to assert fully empowered Asian American narratives rooted in anti-colonial resistance. Their work embraces the struggle of every person raging against oppression and inequality, both at home and abroad. ASIAN AMERICAN UNITY 🔥 Flyer by @ghostbongo

📣 Mayday Festival is this SATURDAY at Maria Hernandez Park! RSVP now ~link in bio! show some love to the amazing artists blessing the festival with their music! @mariquitas.band Lasmariquitas is New York’s Queer and Trans Salsa band. A political liberation project, Las Mariquitas celebrates the community of LGBTQIA+ salserxs in an affirming safe space. Las Mariquitas shares the stage with queer and trans dance instructors, creating a culture of consent on the dance floor, and honoring the legacy of salsa as liberation music by writing new queer and transfeminist songs for the canon. @materialsupport is a political Pinoy punk band that uplifts people’s struggles against capitalism, fascism, and patriarchy. Los Lil’ Kumbia will be joined by artists @estrella_nortena_ and @audryfunk ! @discolocas is a DJ collective of latina women with the mission to open up a safe and supportive space where women selectors and DJs felt comfortable sharing their vinyl selections.
