â
from the Shatila camp in Beirut to the Dheisheh camp in Bethlehem, âFrontiers of Dreams and Fearsâ follows two teenage girls â Mona and Manar â who, separated by exile, form a friendship via the internet and are eventually able to meet. shot after the liberation of Southern Lebanon from zionist occupation and at the outset of the Second Intifada, the film explores the connections between memory, dreams, and Palestinian identity.
the panel discussion after the film will ground us in the history of zionist occupation in Palestine and Lebanon, connecting the film to the current political moment and recent escalations in our region. the scenes of joy in the film are a reminder of what weâre struggling for, as we envision a future of liberation for our people and lands.Â
stay tuned for the final vendor list - if youâd like to vend at this event DM us!Â

Join us this Thursday at @maydayspace for the opening of Creating Reality: The Iraq War on Handicam, a two-film retrospective commemorating 23 years since the United States invaded Iraq, a Quixotic adventure that proved to be one of the more consequential decisions of the 21st century. Of particular interest for this series will be the image, specifically the image as produced by the handicam, that ubiquitous palm-sized camera whose lo-fi digital aesthetic is simultaneously detached and nightmarish. The two films in this series, Mission Accomplished (dir. by Sean Langan, 2007) and Only the Dead Know (dir. by Michael Ware and Bill Guttentag, 2015) are made by men who arenât filmmakers, yet they find themselves filming prisons, protests, and roadside bombs because of the democratization of the digital image. Itâll be through the handicam too that we meet the men who would come to haunt the American occupation for years via an explosive (and highly motivated) insurgency.
After each screening, we hope to have a wide-spanning conversation on the legacy of the Iraq War (and the wider so-called Global War on Terror) and the ongoing Ramadan War, which threatens to plunge the world into a global depression.

Anti-ICE demonstrators are on trial (or have recently been convicted). This is a benefit show and letter-writing event all rolled into one. Bands include No Knock, Continuity of Struggle (with Seth Tobocman), Watchlist, and End State. All funds will go to the DFW Support Committee. NYC ABC will be there with info on the defendants, and all the other political prisoners we support.
