A vision 30 years in the making came a step closer to being realised on Friday, when we lodged our planning application for a world-class arts venue and education hub in the heart of Bantry. Stunning designs created by award-winning McCullough Mulvin Architects include a 271-seater auditorium, and education spaces, including rehearsal rooms and a second performance space, designed to be accessible for all. The plans represent an exciting opportunity for Bantry and our region - our aim is bring world-class performances to West Cork year-round, develop local talent from beginner to elite levels, and make Bantry an even better place to live and visit. All of us at West Cork Music are hugely grateful to everyone who has helped us reach this point. You can find out more about our plans, and discover how to support the project, at https://bantrymusiccentre.ie

Piaras Ó Lorcáin is coming to West Cork Music on Sunday 26th April. Tickets on sale now 📍 St Brendan's Church 26/04 🚪 Doors at 7pm 🎶 Concert starts at 7.30pm 🎟 Tickets available at westcorkmusic.ie / link in bio A special opportunity to see this generational talent from Armagh, down in the southwest of Ireland. Piaras is a traditional sean-nós singer from Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh, and one of the most distinctive young voices in Irish traditional song today. Immersed in music from early childhood, he began singing at just four years of age and has remained deeply connected to the Irish language and its rich oral heritage ever since. Educated through Irish at Gaelscoil Phádraig Naofa, he developed not only fluency in the language but a profound appreciation for its storytelling and song tradition. During these formative years, he was encouraged and mentored by Bláthín Mhic Cánna, who recognised his natural ability and nurtured his passion for language, narrative and music — foundations that continue to shape his artistic identity.
