If happiness is a colour, it would be yellow.
If you see someone in a bright yellow rashie out on the Great Barrier Reef, chances are youâve found a Master Reef Guide đ
The yellow tops arenât just for looks either. They were specifically designed to be easy to spot in the water, so whether you need a hand, want to join a guided snorkel tour, or just have a reef question, head towards the yellow and look out for the iconic âMaster Reef Guideâ on the back.
Out of the water, the yellow rashies disappear and the Guides swap back into their blue uniforms, continuing their work onboard, on islands and across the reef.
Noticing these uniforms might just lead you to the best part of your day and get you smiling too.

It all looks good.
A lot of your Great Barrier Reef experience comes down to freedom. Freedom to choose whether you want to snorkel or dive, stay close to the boat or shore, or even just decide which direction you want to head in.
But even with all that freedom, itâs important to listen to the safety briefing. Theyâll let you know where itâs safe to go, and on top of that, theyâll usually point out where the best spots are too.
Still unsure? Just ask a Master Reef Guide before you set off, or let them lead the way.
Enjoy your snorkel! đ€ż

11 Manta rays!!!! This is how many were sighted at @franklandislands just yesterday.
May is actually one of the best times of year to see Manta rays around the Frankland Islands as they love the cooler waters! So if a visit has been on your mind, this is a pretty amazing time to experience this special Great Barrier Reef island.
Notice the all black one - this is called a Melanistic Manta, they arenât seen as often and itâs estimated that only roughly 10% of the East Coast manta population is melanistic, which makes this sighting extra special.
Safe to say the mantas stole the show yesterday.

Today is the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough.
For many of us working on the Great Barrier Reef, his voice and storytelling were a huge part of growing up curious about the ocean and the natural world. He has a way of making people stop, look a little closer, and care more deeply about whatâs out there.
Every day, Master Reef Guides share those same moments of wonder with guests on the Reef, the kind of experiences, encounters and stories that stay with people long after theyâve returned home.
Happy Birthday Sir David, and thank you for inspiring generations to love the ocean (and all of Earth) just a little bit more đđ

Gliding through the reef like a magic carpet! đȘž
Always special to see a free-swimming wobbegong, usually tucked under ledges and blending seamlessly into the reef thanks to those intricate patterns and tasselled dermal lobes. Super spoilt to spot this one multiple times throughout the Reef Magic Lagoon in a single day. One of the reefâs most unique (and underrated) sharks đ«¶đœ

Peaceful scenes brought to you by Mackay Reef
Every Reef in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is different. Different corals, layout, wildlife and so on⊠so itâs worthwhile getting to know and asking questions about the Reef you are spending time at. Because, when you begin to understand that Reef, even just a little, it doesnât just change what you see. It changes how you see it.

Footage taken across land and sea country, on the Great Barrier and Ningaloo Reefs.
When you finally get that itch. A very cute Epaulette shark reminding us the Reef is full of these small, real moments.
