Saturday 9/13 at 7pm, Industrial Arts in Beacon, NY — a very special show announcement! It's been over six years since dear friend and former Small Dream Ada collaborator Tyler Gilmore (@blankfor.ms ) asked me to open a Brooklyn C'mon Everybody show for him with his solo electronics rig, with just three weeks notice. It spurred both a tiny aneurysm and also a very serious exploration of what sound I could make alone on stage, with only the instruments I know at my disposal, in a set of fully improvised music. That exploration has since heavily informed my compositional, scoring, and producing journey and I am still thankful for that first opportunity. This Saturday we are at last sharing a stage in a reprisal of that first show, and this time joined by the enigmatic John Thayer (@sonic_monkeywrencher , also one half of @yai_sounds ) who will bring his own take on world-building through live electronics manipulation. Tyler will be performing works from and supporting his just-released full-length album from @leavingrecords (who you all already know I adore), "After The Town Was Swept Away." There will be longform improvisations, there will be noise, there will be beats to dance and disorient to, and there will be plenty of live electronics. Tickets are $10 at the door and a part of the proceeds will go towards local families who are in need of support after having family members stolen from them by masked strangers. Hoping to see you all out there!

Had a lovely time in my second free jam session with Ben Westfall, and this time sharing the sonic space with Celeste Winant who deftly rounded out the sound. We made some curious and compelling noise this time around, I hope you'll give it a listen! The full record is available now at Some words about the recording... With this trio the group explores language and the unique cultural climate of our times. Some iterations are more of a feeling than a coherent agenda of how to interact with the current state of the world but we felt like expressing feelings about current events in a healthy way through art that seem to resonate with a lot of folks from different backgrounds. This album was unique in that we used language based prompt scores to guide our collective improvisations. While some of the language seems to be exaggerated or a fib we were going for an emotional honesty regardless of the practicality of any implied view. We hope you enjoy this record!

April 11th - May 3rd Exhibition: wetroom by Korn Members only preview April 11th Opening April 12th In their first exhibition with the gallery, Visit is pleased to announce a solo show of new Sculptures by Korn. Originally from Recife, Brazil, Korn studied art in Memphis before relocating to Brooklyn, and later the Hudson Valley, where they spent 25 years fabricating work in glass, wood, and metal for other artists at Polich Fine Art Foundry/UAP. After decades away from their own practice, Korn has returned with a distinct material language shaped by letterpress, printmaking, photo transfers, concrete, and metal. In this collection—and in this repressive political era—Korn turns their attention to public bathrooms. The playful desire to flirt or cruise involves a new (and yet old) level of risk, with spontaneous marks and physical elements in assemblages that combine both brutalist and fluid characteristics. Evoking urine, plumbing, tile, and voyeurism, Korn addresses the political obsession with—and oppression of—trans people, transforming sites of control into charged spaces of intimacy and resistance.
