Saturday 9/13 at 7pm, Industrial Arts in Beacon, NY â a very special show announcement!
It's been over six years since dear friend and former Small Dream Ada collaborator Tyler Gilmore (
@blankfor.ms ) asked me to open a Brooklyn C'mon Everybody show for him with his solo electronics rig, with just three weeks notice.
It spurred both a tiny aneurysm and also a very serious exploration of what sound I could make alone on stage, with only the instruments I know at my disposal, in a set of fully improvised music. That exploration has since heavily informed my compositional, scoring, and producing journey and I am still thankful for that first opportunity.
This Saturday we are at last sharing a stage in a reprisal of that first show, and this time joined by the enigmatic John Thayer (
@sonic_monkeywrencher , also one half of
@yai_sounds ) who will bring his own take on world-building through live electronics manipulation.
Tyler will be performing works from and supporting his just-released full-length album from
@leavingrecords (who you all already know I adore), "After The Town Was Swept Away."
There will be longform improvisations, there will be noise, there will be beats to dance and disorient to, and there will be plenty of live electronics.
Tickets are $10 at the door and a part of the proceeds will go towards local families who are in need of support after having family members stolen from them by masked strangers.
Hoping to see you all out there!
