"12 is too young to overthrow the government, 36 is too old. 64 is old enough but are you really still up for it?"
I know I'm ready to overthrow this one!! Here's another one from the recent free session featuring @martindfowler , @ben.westfall.39 , and @celstee — now available at /
Hope you enjoy!
Had a lovely time in my second free jam session with Ben Westfall, and this time sharing the sonic space with Celeste Winant who deftly rounded out the sound. We made some curious and compelling noise this time around, I hope you'll give it a listen!

Some words about the recording...
With this trio the group explores language and the unique cultural climate of our times. Some iterations are more of a feeling than a coherent agenda of how to interact with the current state of the world but we felt like expressing feelings about current events in a healthy way through art that seem to resonate with a lot of folks from different backgrounds. This album was unique in that we used language based prompt scores to guide our collective improvisations.
While some of the language seems to be exaggerated or a fib we were going for an emotional honesty regardless of the practicality of any implied view. We hope you enjoy this record!
Martin D. Fowler & Ben Westfall grew up experimenting and learning about music together since childhood at a mutual friend and collaborator’s childhood home in Marin, California. Both have gone on to study, create, and work in music at different times and in different contexts. While still in their youth, both parties worked closely on rock songwriting and group playing. Here we see both of them come together to try a more improvised, experimental style as adults compared to their younger work while still retaining some of the original voice of their early collaborations. It is as though they were still practicing as children but got together almost 20 years later with more experience and creativity. Neither party still lives in Marin but still consider the county to be informative of their development.

I am demonstrating the cello bow technique on electric guitar, as used on EmilyCardwellMusic and I’s piece Ice that can be found on our new album Frog Prince & White Rabbit Improvise. If you like this you will also find many other pieces on my bandcamp using this technique at sirreel.bandcamp.com
With the technique I used with EmilyCardwellMusic on our song sacrifice from frog Prince and white rabbit improvise, that you can find on my bandcamp sirreel.bandcamp.com, sometimes it can be effective to use a battery powered vibrator on a guitar to create a new sound world. Please enjoy although the track sacrifice is much more expansive than this reel!
