M Art Foundation is proud to support the production of Sumber Alam, the first institutional solo exhibition in Europe by Indonesian artist Bagus Pandega (29 August – 16 November 2025) at Kunsthalle Basel, presented in partnership with the Swiss Institute. Spanning multiple galleries, Sumber Alam (“source of nature”) unfolds as a choreographed ecosystem of machines, signals, and living matter. Rooted in field research on Indonesia’s shifting landscapes, the works respond to environmental upheavals driven by palm oil expansion and nickel mining. Pandega transforms these extractive realities into poetic assemblages: a plan-controlled erasing machine, a sound installation carved from deforested wood, and a mining simulator that echoes cycles of growth, erosion, and memory. At once technological and sensorial, the exhibition blurs boundaries between human and nonhuman agency. In this fragile circuit, nature asserts its voice, imagining futures beyond extraction. Based in Jakarta, Pandega (b.1985) is known for his experimental installations that fuse sound, sculpture, and technology into poetic circuits of energy. The production of this exhibition is supported by M Art Foundation, extending its long-standing support of Asian artists and, in recent years, a focus on Southeast Asia — here marking its first collaboration with an Indonesian artist. This support also reflects the Foundation’s founders’ background in gaming, which resonates with Pandega’s system-based and interactive practice. — 29 August – 16 November 2025 Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland © Photography by Maruto Ardi. Congratulations to Heman Chong on the opening of his first major survey at the Singapore Art Museum. We are honoured that Perimeter Walk (2013–2024), a long-term project commissioned by UCCA and supported in its development and production by M Art Foundation, is now on view as part of this significant exhibition. Previously shown at UCCA Center for Contemporary Art and the Sharjah Biennial, Perimeter Walk enters a new chapter at SAM, where it is situated within a broader examination of the canonical works in Chong’s oeuvre. The exhibition moves fluidly through image, text, performance and constructed situations, unfolding across nine thematic rooms: Words, Whispers, Ghosts, Journeys, Futures, Findings, Infrastructures, Surfaces and Endings. Each space offers insight into how Chong uses everyday objects, scenarios and systems to reflect on the structures, contradictions and absurdities of contemporary life. M Art Foundation is proud to contribute to this ambitious, research-driven work, which exemplifies our commitment to supporting projects that cross disciplines and geographies. Since our founding, we have championed artists who challenge conventional forms and embrace experimentation across mediums and contexts. We are grateful to SAM for offering a meaningful platform for this project to continue evolving. This exhibition is on view at SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark until 17 August 2025. _ Take a journey with Perimeter Walk through these key venues: Singapore Art Museum (Images 1–2: courtesy of the museum) UCCA Center for Contemporary Art (Image 3) Sharjah Biennial (Image 4) Exhibition views from Heman Chong: This is a dynamic list and may never be able to satisfy particular standards for completeness (Images 5–10), courtesy of SAM. @hemanchong @singaporeartmuseum

M Art Foundation is pleased to announce the acquisition and donation of Debris of Eternity (2023) by Qiu Xiaofei to the Singapore Art Museum. Reimagining the traditional Portraits of Periodical Offering, Qiu conjures surreal emissaries, fantastical beasts, and labyrinthine architectures in vivid hues. Removed from imperial hierarchies, these images construct a dreamlike realm of coexistence—where memory, speculation, and civilizational entanglement unfold across time. Set against the cultural backdrop of Harbin and its post-Soviet traces, the work compresses past and present into a single plane, where history drifts into hallucination and fiction reveals deeper truths. This donation reflects M Art Foundation’s ongoing commitment to artist-led practices that challenge fixed narratives and foster cross-regional dialogue. We are honoured to support SAM’s evolving curatorial vision and its role in shaping contemporary art discourse in Asia. ©️ Qiu Xiaofei and Xavier Hufkens, Brussels. M Art Foundation is proud to announce the acquisition and donation of Haumea (2013) by Thai artist Tawatchai Puntusawasdi to the Singapore Art Museum. Rooted in geometry, mathematics, and philosophical inquiry, Haumea begins with a speculative question: What might the Earth’s shadow look like if its spherical form were distorted? From this thought experiment, Tawatchai constructs a sculpture composed of thousands of hand-cut aluminum plates—each individually measured, drawn, and assembled—transforming theoretical distortion into sculptural presence. Referencing engineering diagrams and the aesthetics of obsolete digital imagery, Haumea merges the rational with the poetic, the intuitive with the exacting. Its seemingly unstable axis invites deeper questions about gravity, balance, and the unseen forces that shape perception and form. This donation reflects M Art Foundation’s ongoing support for artist-led practices across Asia and beyond. Through acquisitions, commissions, and institutional collaborations, we aim to expand critical engagement with contemporary sculpture and foster new cultural dialogues. We are honoured to contribute to the Singapore Art Museum’s evolving vision for Southeast Asian and international art. ©️ Tawatchai Puntusawasdi. Unveiled with the support of M Art Foundation as part of the Consortium Museum’s Asia Pacific Society programme, “the blood of the earth” by Korakrit Arunanondchai (16 May – 2 November 2025) is currently on view. Curated by Franck Gautherot and Seungduk Kim, Thai artist Korakrit Arunanondchai presents a sprawling, sensory installation that merges ash from Bangkok’s Kunsthalle with local Dijon earth, forming a cracked black crust across the gallery floor. Sound, scent, and ritual converge in a techno-animist landscape, evoking themes of mourning, memory, and survival. Korakrit’s immersive work transforms the white cube into a haunting threshold between material and immaterial worlds. The exhibition is presented in parallel with “Grand Lobby” by Chen Fei, which M Art Foundation is honoured to support. - 16 May 2025 – 2 November 2025 Le Consortium, Dijon, France Korakrit Arunanondchai « The blood of the earth », Consortium Museum, Dijon (France), 2025. As part of our commitment to the Consortium Museum’s Asia Pacific Society programme, M Art Foundation is pleased to support “Grand Lobby” by Chen Fei (16 May – 2 November 2025). This marks Beijing-based painter Chen Fei’s first institutional solo exhibition in Europe. Renowned for his meticulous brushwork and cinematic sensibilities, Chen creates satirical still lifes where everyday objects, Buddhist icons, and poultry collide in surreal harmony. These hyperreal scenes — both humorous and unsettling — probe surface aesthetics and symbolic language, reimagining hotel and state building lobbies as stages of power, display, and coded meaning. Curated by Franck Gautherot and Seungduk Kim, “Grand Lobby” explores themes of image-making, ritual, and transformation within the Asia-Pacific context. The exhibition is presented in parallel with “the blood of the earth” by Korakrit Arunanondchai, which M Art Foundation is honoured to support. - 16 May 2025 – 2 November 2025 Le Consortium, Dijon, France Chen Fei « Grand Lobby », Consortium Museum, Dijon (France), 2025. M Art Foundation is proud to have supported PLAY KNOW ATTENTION, a self-organised residency programme in Phnom Penh that shaped Evaporates at Kiang Malingue (@kiangmalingue ) Initiated by Yu Ji, the exhibition brought together Casey Robbins, Ho King Man, Boat Zhang, and Kojiro Kobayashi, who revisited their time in Cambodia—where the rhythms of daily life, the weight of the climate, and the challenges of cohabitation shaped their creative processes. At Kiang Malingue, these reflections took on new forms. The artists re-examined how a place is defined—not just by architecture, but by fleeting sounds, shifting light, and the unnoticed gestures of the everyday. Through their works, they captured the delicate interplay between presence and impermanence, movement and stillness, exploring how environments shape perception and artistic practice. - 13 Dec 2024 - 8 Feb 2025 10 Sik On Street, Wanchai, Hong Kong © Yu Ji. As part of Sharjah Biennial 16 6 February–15 June 2025 Curated by Alia Swastika, Amal Khalaf, Megan Tamati-Quennell, Natasha Ginwala, and Zeynep Öz, Sharjah Biennial 16 presents over 190 participants and more than 200 new commissions across the Emirate of Sharjah. Titled to carry, the Biennial invites reflection on what we hold, transport, or inherit—physically, culturally, and historically. It considers our place within unfamiliar spaces, the bridges between past and future, and the interwoven narratives of migration, survival, and belonging. What do we carry when we leave, stay, or endure? Walking the island’s fringes, Chong collects and reimagines found objects, transforming them into postcards that circulate new narratives. His images highlight cracks in the rigid structures of a nation-state—such as 10 wax hands from Fort Siloso’s war museum, frozen in the act of signing WWII surrender treaties, embodying the weight of historical tensions. "Perimeter Walk" comprises 550 postcards capturing Singapore's borders through Heman Chong’s (@hemanchong ) lens as he walked the edges of the island. These photographs reveal a layered narrative—sand walls, signs of surveillance, resting workers, and lush vegetation—all reflecting the ordered boundaries of a tropical nation. Visitors are invited to touch, exchange, or gift these postcards, turning the largest gallery at UCCA Dune @ucca798 @uccadune into a vibrant postcard store, extending these landscapes beyond the exhibition. - Perimeter Walk, 2013–2024 Offset print postcards, 550 pieces Commissioned by UCCA Center for Contemporary Art The development and production of the artwork is supported by M Art Foundation. _ This project is M Art Foundation's 2024 Annual Artist Project. Zhou Tao's film “Axis of Big Data,” co-produced by M Art Foundation, has captivated audiences worldwide. After its premiere at the Taipei Biennale 2023 @tfam_museum ,this film has been showcased at platforms like Art Basel HK (@artbasel ) and MoMA Doc Fortnight (@themuseumofmodernart ). Zhou Tao (b. 1976, China) masterfully captures the intersection of humanity and nature in his latest work. Set against the mountainous landscapes of Guizhou, “Axis of Big Data” takes viewers on an entrancing journey through rural farmland and a big data centre. The film seamlessly weaves through lush scenery and vibrant mountain life, encountering local farmers, tourists, and wildlife, all amidst the tune of hard drives and chirping insects. This powerful juxtaposition of the organic and technological creates a unique atmosphere. It blurs the lines between observer and observed, painting a portrait of our interconnected world. The film will be featured in the Frontier Competition at DMZ International Documentary Film Festival (@dmzdocs ) in Korea from 26 Sep to 2 Oct 2024. Watch the trailer to experience the uncanny beauty captured by Zhou Tao’s lens. Video courtesy of @vitamincreativespace and artist.
