COMING SOON: Yang Xinguang: Dark Surfaces From April 19 to October 11, 2026, UCCA Dune presents Yang Xinguang’s most extensive institutional solo exhibition to date, bringing together new installations, sculptures, and site-specific works shaped by his ongoing engagement with natural materials—earth, plants, and detritus—alongside steel, concrete, and paint. Taking the ecological “litter layer” as its point of departure, the exhibition traces processes of decay, accumulation, and transformation, where organic matter and human intervention intersect. The exhibition is curated by UCCA Chief Curator Chelsea Qianxi Liu. #ucca #uccadune #yangxinguang

“Yang Xinguang: Dark Surfaces,” the artist’s largest institutional solo exhibition to date, brings together more than ten new sets of work spanning installation, sculpture, video, and site-specific interventions to UCCA Dune. Over the past two decades, Yang Xinguang has worked extensively with natural materials such as stone, wood, soil, and plants, alongside industrial materials like steel, concrete, and paint. In this presentation, these elements are brought into shifting relations, tracing his ongoing inquiry into material transformation and human intervention in natural processes. Drawing on the ecological concept of the “litter layer,” the exhibition considers the hidden surface where decomposition becomes renewal, and reflects on how natural cycles are shaped, interrupted, and reconfigured. Curated by Chelsea Qianxi Liu. On view through October 11, 2026. #ucca #uccadune #yangxinguang

Now open at UCCA Dune Yang Xinguang: Dark Surfaces On view from April 19 to October 11, 2026, this exhibition marks the artist’s largest institutional solo presentation to date, bringing together more than ten newly commissioned works spanning installation, sculpture, video, and site-specific interventions. Staged within the museum’s cave-like architecture and surrounding landscape, the exhibition draws on the ecological concept of the “litter layer”—a site of decomposition and regeneration—to reflect on material transformation and humanity’s entanglement with the natural world. Through subtle interventions that suspend, replicate, or disrupt natural processes, Yang Xinguang repositions organic matter as something both familiar and estranged, inviting consideration of whether human action exists within, or apart from, natural cycles. This exhibition is curated by UCCA Chief Curator Chelsea Qianxi Liu. #ucca #uccadune #yangxinguang

In its final weeks at UCCA Dune, “Kim Lim: Water Rests, Stone Speaks” remains on view through April 6. The first institutional solo exhibition in mainland China dedicated to the late British-Singaporean artist traces Kim Lim’s sculptural and printmaking practice across three decades. Through works that explore form, rhythm, and light, the exhibition reveals a sustained inquiry into the expressive potential of materials—where stone seems to suggest movement, and carved surfaces hold shifting traces of light. We invite visitors to experience the quiet dialogue of Lim‘s works with the seascape surroundings before the exhibition closes. #ucca #uccadune #kimlim

Installation Highlight | “Kim Lim: Water Rests, Stone Speaks” This exhibition brings together five prints from @kimlimstudio Lim’s “Dunhuang Series” with photographs she made during her travels in China in the late 1980s. Seen side by side, they reveal how encounters with Dunhuang’s carved forms, desert expanses, and spiritual spaces informed her lifelong search for rhythm, light, and the essence of form. This installation, in addition to the other works presented, offer a more intitmate glimpse into how Lim—born in Singapore and based in London for most of her life—wove Eastern and Western cultural experiences into a minimalist artistic language. On view at UCCA Dune from October 26, 2025 to April 5, 2026. #ucca #uccadune #kimlim
