The Singapore Biennale 2025 concluded yesterday, and with that Ătudes at Tanglin Halt closed its shutters for the last time. I want to say thank you again to Selene Yap
@seleneysh and to Rachel Zuzarte
@xradz for all your work and care in helping bring this work to life. I also want to extend my gratitude to all the sitters, guards and volunteers who have helped in looking after this off-site space - it would not have been possible without you, the team managing the logistics, care and maintenance of this work over the last five months and now its travel and restoration. Thank you all so much. Thank you so much to everyone who traveled to Tanglin Halt to see the work.
Thank you to the Singapore Art Museum
@singaporeartmuseum @sgbiennale . Thank you to the KonstnÀrsnÀmnden
@swedish_arts_grants_committee @iaspis.se for your support towards making this possible.

Ătudes (Tanglin Halt)
as part of Singapore Biennale 2025: Pure Intention
curated by Selene Yap, Duncan Bass, Hsu Fang Tse, Ong Phuay Kim.
Developed for 49 Tanglin Halt Road, #01-357, formerly a traditional Chinese medicine shop, Ătudes translates the siteâs remaining features into a working score. These include custom wood, glass and mirror shelving, and marks on the walls and floors. The artist treats these elements as givens for composition.
Here, the system adapts to the unitâs specific architecture and residual fittings. The installation comprises sequences of laser-cut acrylic piano keys, vinyl components on glass, printed material and translucent casts. A piano examination form provides a structuring logic of grids and annotations that assign proportion and placement. During installation, these rules are applied, adjusted, or set aside.
