Last night I had the pleasure of dining at
@rogan_simon @henrocksimonrogan and the 10-course tasting menu was nothing short of exceptional.
As I was driving, I opted for the apple and chilli no-alcohol margarita to start – refreshing, vibrant, herby and warming, the perfect start with a hint of what the would be on offer
The journey begins with light, delicate dishes that gently awaken the palate, before building in flavour, intensity and complexity as the experience unfolds. Each course feels perfectly placed, growing punchier and more layered as the evening progresses, creating a sense of anticipation for what might arrive next.
Picking a favourite dish – or even a top three – was impossible. Just when you think you’ve decided, the next course arrived and changed your mind. As a lover of celeriac though, the blackened celeriac pudding was outstanding; rich, comforting and packed with deep earthy flavour. The duck was another highlight - melting in the mouth yet holding its own beautifully against the boldness of the offal and plum.
Dessert brought a wonderful sense of nostalgia. The fig leaf and pineapple weed dish took me back to childhood memories of making blackcurrant pasties with my Grandma, the woman who inspired my passion for food. The use of liquid nitrogen to create pellets of blackcurrant sorbet was genius – delivering bursts of intense flavour and texture that made the dish playful and memorable.

@clairerachel_ along with all the staff treated us like royalty from the moment we arrived. The relaxed, unhurried service meant every mouthful could be fully appreciated without feeling rushed. If like me you inundate the staff with questions about processes, fear not, the level of detail the FoH team went into was incredible. Every question was answered as if I was talking to the chef himself.

@ourfarm shone throughout the menu, beautifully highlighting the passion for fresh, local and British. Seeing Mark at the end and having a tour of the kitchen topped what was an unforgettable birthday meal.
