Today is World Cabbage Day, and of course, I was not going to let it pass without marking it. If this is your first impression of me, it is probably quite fitting. Those close to me know I have long waved the cabbage flag, giving it hero status at the heart of many dishes across my menus and restaurants for over two decades, and growing tens of thousands of different varieties at @ourfarm . Growing up, when meat was not always on the table, cabbage often sat at the centre of our family meals. It was the affordable alternative then, and in today’s climate, it feels more relevant than ever. It is hardy, incredibly versatile, and an ingredient that has always deserved far more respect than it is often given. So for me, after genuinely championing cabbages for a long time, it feels only right to officially contribute to the Year of the Cabbage, seated in a wheelbarrow and surrounded by them. Over the coming months, I am excited to share everything from cooking and how we grow them at @ourfarm , alongside recipes that showcase their true potential, tips, ideas and much more. Tonight marks another incredible achievement for us. We’ve successfully retained our Michelin stars across our UK restaurants, which means three stars and a green star for @lenclume , and one star each for @rogan_and_co , @aulissimonrogan and at @skof_manchester by Tom Barnes. Just reading that list fills me with pride for the people who’ve made this possible. We’ve come so far since 2002, and it is without a doubt, down to the immense hard work and exceptional talent of the individuals in our team. From our executive and head chefs, restaurant managers, front of house staff, reservations team, housekeepers, and my exec team, who keep everything running seamlessly, everyone is vitally important. Thank you all! Seeing the remarkable individuals across our teams develop and thrive brings me immense joy. It proves that when you nurture talent and believe in people, extraordinary things happen - and that magic hasn’t faded for me, now more so than ever. And of course, @ourfarm , at the centre of it all and inspiring everything we do. The starting point for any dish and the place I go to for new ideas and a moment of calm. The Year of the Cabbage continues! ⁠ ⁠ Cabbage has long been one of the hero ingredients in my kitchens, celebrated for its versatility and seasonality. What a way to start the week with the Rogan x Rogan event at Restaurant AO. Last night, I joined my son @danielrogan at his newly reopened restaurant, @aobydanielrogan in Southampton, for the first evening of a special collaboration week. We were delighted to host the opening night alongside @thegoodfoodguide and to welcome many of their members. Thank you to everyone who joined us - we look forward to welcoming more of you soon. We met Simon Rogan at Michelin-starred @aulissimonrogan to cook one of his favourite dishes — pressed Fuseau artichoke with Isle of Mull, sweetened juices and young shoots — a dish that perfectly captures his approach to ingredients.
