85% of hospitality workers attribute increased stress directly to their job.
That's not surprising to most people in this industry, but it is a number that deserves more than a shrug.
It's why we're here.
Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 11 to 17 May, and this year the focus is on community.
Kelly’s Cause community are made up of the people who genuinely understand what this industry asks of you, and who show up for each other because of it. That kind of connection is one of the most powerful tools we have.
Staying informed is one thing, but constant exposure to distressing news takes a toll, and it's okay to step back.
We've pulled together a few practical tips for managing news consumption and breaking the doom-scroll cycle, along with some helpful resources if you're finding it difficult right now.
And if you or someone you know needs more immediate support, the Samaritans are available on 116 123, or you can call NHS 111 and select option 2.
Have you entered your business for CODE’s Happiest Places to Work 2026, in partnership with @planday ? As challenging as it is in the world of hospitality right now, there has never been a more important time to show your commitment to your team, your culture and your values.
Register your company now at the link in bio and find out how your business can save 50% off for the first 6 months with @planday .
We’re really delighted to announce @amberlfrancis as a Kelly’s Cause ambassador!
Crowned winner of @greatbritishmenu 2025, Amber has cemented herself as a top culinary talent with over ten years of experience operating in some of London’s best restaurants. Named as "one of Britain’s most talented rising culinary stars", she became a head chef at the age of 26, was crowned Young Chef of The Year in 2022, as well as making Square Meal’s Ones To Watch list.
Since winning Great British Menu, Amber has become a mother and this has reinforced her passion for good food in early years, children and young people! She is a supporter of @chefsinschools_uk and is an advocate for Food Education, having been part of round tables and events in parliament for the Department for Education.
Amber is heavily involved with community projects; having been a Young Chef Ambassador, Mental Health Ambassador, and volunteering with food-based charities. Amber currently works as Head Chef and Senior Food Educator at a school in North London, building communities around food.
Having community driven chefs like Amber alongside us matters, particularly when looking at hospitality as a whole, beyond restaurants alone. Thank you Amber for joining us! 💫
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so for the whole month we’ll be supporting @kellyscause 🧡
We’ll be adding a £1 (optional) donation to the bill, with all proceeds going towards their work supporting mental health across the hospitality industry.
@kellyscause was founded in memory of Kelly, a young chef who sadly took her own life at 23. Her friend and fellow chef, Tobie-Anna, started the charity to honour her and push for real change in our industry.
We’ve worked closely with them over the past few years, from training Mental Health First Aiders across our teams to helping shape how we support our people day to day.
If you choose to add the £1 donation, it goes directly to them, supporting people in hospitality who need it.
We're back with Beyond the Pass! Conor Gadd is here.
Conor started cooking at 16 under Michelin-starred chef Paul Rankin in Belfast. His style was later shaped by travels through Asia, time in Auckland, and training a Ballymaloe, where he developed a passion for seasonal, ingredient-led food. He went on to help launch Terroirs in London before joining Trullo in Highbury, where he became Head Chef and stayed for over a decade. Now a Co-owner at Trullo, Conor brings more than 20 years of experience to the table, and we are delighted to be sharing this great conversation.
Tune in to hear us talk about the foundations of a building a solid team, the superiroity of the potato and the brilliant side of creating a career in restaurants.
Quickfire favourites include celebrity crushes Shane Lowry and Rory Mcllory, snacking on a bag of flame grilled steak crisps with a can of Coke, and the best dish he’s ever eaten: tagliarini with white truffle butter, Parmesan and egg yolk at Trullo.

Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work, and this year it's shining a light on something we care deeply about: how the environment people work in affects their mental health.
In hospitality, the hours, the pressure, the pace, the culture in a kitchen or on the floor, it all plays a role in how people feel day to day. That's not something we can afford to overlook.
It might be a part of the job to work at pace when in service, but this is your reminder that when the shift finishes, try and step off the hamster wheel, so it doesn’t feel like you’re also living life high on adrenalin too.
Eat a balanced meal, call a friend, sleep or find a hobby that helps you SLOW DOWN. It’s not something our society always values, but your cortisol levels will thank you for it.
A HUGE congratulations to our @londonmarathon runners this year who through sweat, tears & eventually beers, ran to fund subsidised (and often free) mental health training to hospitality professionals.
Without the efforts of our community fundraising @kellyscause wouldn’t be able to do what they do! So if you’d like a spot in London Mara 2027 head to our link in bio now, we have 4 places up for grabs!
WELL DONE George, Jack, Steve, Mel & Lauren. 🎉
