- Layer Upon Layer Upon Layer by Alex Groves (
@alexgroves_ ), is a sonic map, charting places both real and imagined, internal and external, emotional and physical. It’s both a sonic geography of my life and a wide open landscape for others to explore. Inspired by land artist Richard Long, the piece turns field recordings into an abstracted vista, loaded with meaning and yet also waiting for you to define it.
- Rest Within the Wake by James Allister Sprang (
@jamesallistersprang ), is an unprecedented combination of poetry, experimental jazz, orchestral music and advanced audio technology. Rest Within the Wake is a listening session that stimulates all your senses, specially composed 60 feet below the surface of the Caribbean Sea. This piece ia a warm invitation to, in Sprang’s own words, ‘listen deeply as we welcome our bodies, our ancestors, our traumas, our pain, our desires, our visions and our dreams’.
- UNSTABLE STEADY STATES (A/B/F extended, 2023) by Robert Curgenven (
@robertcurgenven ) spans three tuning systems, creating interference patterns and beating frequencies that translate the spatial experience as starkly physical. Developed at residencies across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Ireland (2021–23), Part A uses Neidhardt Grosse Stadt tuning at Studio Acusticum, Piteå; Part B employs meantone quarter comma at Norrfjärden Church; Part F layers roomtones, feedback, dubplates and low frequency oscillators. Supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and APRA Arts Music Fund.
- Wind Takes Flight by Marijn Cinjee (
@marijn.cinjee ) and Julia Sinclair (
@julia.sinclair.music ) is a focused listening experience that explores the human, existential core of listening. Beginning with a spellbinding chant inspired by the poems of early medieval polymath Hildegard von Bingen, it builds on this divine momentum with a rich electronic sound world that gradually draws the listener deeper. Bringing together the ancient core of human music with modern electronic synthesis and spatial sound architecture, the piece offers a deeply transformational experience.
