A Desert Arts Movement’. 🐎🐎🐎
Highlighting the groundbreaking initiative ~ bringing together over 150 Texas artists in a first-of-its-kind salon-style Exhibition. With the scale and scope monumental in both artistic ambition and cultural relevance ~ the MARFA INVITATIONAL OPEN | TEXAS
@marfainvitational was more than just an Art Exhibition. It was a transformational moment for the Texas arts community, and a defining showcase for the state’s creative identity 💫
"Over 160 of the participating 165 artists were in attendance—not chasing awards or attention, but forging connection. Shared meals, late-night conversations, and collective reflections fostered a sense of peer support unique to this Invitational.
This wasn't simply an exhibition—it was a movement.
All proceeds from sales of artwork went fully to the artists—with artists receiving 100% of the sale of artworks.
Curators—Sonia Borrell, Michael Phelan, and Lester Marks—worked in kind, without payment or compensation.
Financial help was offered for artists in need.
Everything focused on inclusion, trust, and shared creation.
The MARFA INVITATIONAL OPEN embraced the full spectrum of artistic expression, prioritizing relationships over prestige, community over commerce.

@blessyoutacobell didn’t just organize an exhibition—they sparked a movement. In Marfa this past May—Art breathed, danced, glowed, and convened. The desert became the stage; Ray Smith’s
@raysmithstudio sculptures, the pillars; the dance, the heartbeat. Each artist—a vital note in a bold symphony. With dust, drinks, and shared intentions, Marfa redefined what gathering around art can be.”
