WHALES IN DANGER 😭🐋 . A terrifying high amount of 19 whales have stranded across Indonesia within one week. 3 of them have stranded in Bali. . Last Wednesday, (5th of April) I got notified from the @westerlakenfoundation (@yayasanbalibersih ) that a sperm whale stranded at Klungkung beach. At this moment the whale was still alive and the local people were able to push it back out to the ocean. Only a few hours later the same sperm whale stranded again and passed away. 😢 . It was very sad for me to witness my first whale experience being a stranded whale. I have never seen whale in the ocean and it always been a dream. We really need to take action to protect the whales so that future generations can also see these beautiful creatures alive in the ocean. 🐋 . One positive thing that I saw has been the collaboration of so many organisation and the government to handle the stranding and work together to find out what’s going on. A vet team did an autopsy on the whale to find out the cause of death. We will hopefully know more soon. 🤞 . If you see a stranded animal, please report to the Westerlaken Foundation. . Please help share this video to raise awareness about these whale strandings and that we need to take action. 💙🙏 #whale #savetheocean

A Cycling Journey full of Hope for the Ocean 🌊🚴 #cyclingforocean I am very excited to announce that I will be cycling from Bali to Labuan Bajo in celebration of World Ocean Day and to raise funds for a community based marine coastal conservation program in Lenteng. @ecosystembumi in collaboration with @konservasitacik has launched the Bumi Tacik Golo Program this year to empower the local community in protecting their marine ecosystem. 🪸 The bicycle tour will be an adventure of a lifetime and more importantly tto remind us all that the future of our oceans is still in our hands. Along my journey, I will collect the hopes for the ocean from coastal residents and deliver these messages to Lenteng to inspire local and global action. 🙏 The campaign goal is to raise €25,000 to fund vital marine conservation and research efforts on the ground. But I’m not doing this alone. You can join the Cycling for Ocean movement from anywhere. Together, we are aiming for a collective 10,000 kilometers globally. Every kilometer and every donation counts. Mark your calendars: From 25 May – 8 June, every kilometer you ride helps empower local communities to safeguard their coastal ecosystems. 🌊🙌 #bumitacikgolo #worldoceanday

Also nutzen wir unsere!! ❤️🐶 #pawsofdeniyaya #kastrationsprojekt

@jaan.indonesia @jakartaanimalaidnetwork @femkedenhaas @mission_erde_ev @manuelbergmann @ecosystembumi #Auswilderung #langschwanzmakaken #javaneraffe #affen

Many tourists are destroying coral reefs in Amed...🪸💔 While snorkeling during my short holiday in Jemeluk Bay Amed, I was completely shocked by what I witnessed in just one session. Around 20 to 30 tourists were stepping directly on living corals next to me. I couldn’t believe my eyes…🥲 Corals are living animals, not rocks or sand. When people step on or touch them, they break and often die. Reefs take decades to grow and only seconds to destroy. This is likely happening there every single day. And if nothing changes, there will soon be no healthy corals left in places like this. If you see someone stepping on coral, please don’t look away. Explain calmly and help raise awareness. Share this video to help protect coral reefs. 🌊🪸🙏#savetheocean #protectwhatyoulove #coralreefs

THE MAHAKAM RIVER DOLPHIN 🐬 This year, during a survey with @yayasan_rasi and @ecosystembumi , I had the privilege of capturing this moment of a Mahakam River Dolphin quietly surfacing in the river it has called home for generations. I have been at the Mahakam River multiple times and it always so special to witness them. With only about 60 individuals left, every sighting feels like a small miracle. Mahakam River Dolphins move through the same winding channels their families have used for generations, their rounded heads and gentle surfacing making them instantly recognizable. But they face mounting challenges of unsafe fishing gear and ghost nets that threaten their lives, constant disturbance from boat traffic, pollution and declining water quality. With such a small population, even a single loss has devastating consequences. The River Dolphin Ranger Team by @yayasan_rasi and @ecosystembumi works tirelessly along the Mahakam to push these threats back. The rangers monitor dolphin movements, record births and injuries, patrol the habitat, remove dangerous nets, assist during emergencies, and are in touch with the community. The Mahakam River Dolphin is more than a species, they are a reflection of the river’s health. When the dolphins thrive, the river thrives. When the river thrives, so do the communities that depend on it for fish, transportation, and much more. Each time a dolphin surfaces, it’s a reminder that hope is still alive on the Mahakam. Their survival depends on the river staying healthy and on the people who continue to protect it with courage, and love for their home. Let us together help protect this incredible species for future generations to come. 🩵#savemahakamriverdolphin

Freediving through the coral reefs of Raja Ampat felt like drifting into another world. Colors, life, and silence all around me. I was smiling the whole time underwater and completely in awe of the beauty. We have got to protect what we love. 🌊🪸🐠 #saverajaampat

Happy World Ranger Day 🐢💪 With @ecosystembumi we support different ranger teams across Indonesia to protect endangered wildlife. One of our ranger teams in collaboration with @ecosystemimpactfoundation stands guard day and night protecting nesting beaches on Bangkaru island, patrolling dense forests, collecting data and ensuring that the turtle have a safe journey to the sea. They spend half of the year away from their families and dedicate all the efforts to protect Bangkaru and its wildlife. 🌊 One of these rangers is Uzhar. For nearly two decades, he has been protecting the endangered sea turtles of Bangkaru. When I visited the project site last January, @manusiadanpohon and I had the idea separate from the main program video to create a short documentary about a typical day in the life of a ranger. It offers a rare glimpse into Uzhar’s daily life, his unwavering commitment, and the deep connection he shares with the island he calls home. 🙏 🎥 Watch the short documentary now on YouTube @EcosystemBumi and discover the story behind turtle conservation. #worldrangerday 📸: @manusiadanpohon
