“Can I hear your song?” Gouache and wool on canvas
Whenever I paint one thing I feel like it needs a friend. After painting long dog I thought what better companion than a swan? Soft and delicate but also hella aggressive if you’ve met one in person
I can’t really put into words all that @wholeearthfestival has brought me over the years. This year was my 9th whole earth ever and my 5th year vending. From being on staff through college then meeting & directing with @exquisitelyemptyy to now being a vendor with all my best friends, I am eternally grateful. Because what do you mean I got to spend the whole weekend talking and meeting wonderful people, hanging out with best friends @exquisitelyemptyy and @owlhaireddesigns , surrounded by wonderful community, AND I did better than I ever had at any market by a landslide ????
Wef will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you so much if you came by and chatted, bought some art. And ty to everyone who makes the festival happen, keeping wef magic alive. Cant wait for next year :,)

“Can I see your teeth?” , gouache on canvas with wool accents
In a show about the tension between softness and violence “can I see your teeth” explores one potential composition. The dog is painted in delicate whirls that ask the viewer to imagine running their fingers through its coat, but unlike any other animal in “Tender Heart, Deep Bite”, a dog has teeth built for violence. An implication hovers behind it always that if asked, it could bring weapons to bear. Does this say anything about us then, that dogs are the animals to whom we most readily identify?
Still on view at WAL until the end of the month:)
