African Queens: Njinga
A period world lit with patience, precision, and respect.
We worked with what nature gave — and what history demanded.
Let the sun do the heavy lifting — we just refined it's attitude.
1. The Warrior: Kasanje
Harsh light, disciplined exposure.
We carved depth with shadow — not to hide, but to honour the texture of strength.
Sometimes control means restraint.
2. The Queen: Njinga
Grace lives in the gradients.
For dark skin, it’s never about adding light — it’s about shaping it to preserve undertones.
We shaped soft daylight to hold emotion in her face, to let power and vulnerability exist together.
Light reveals lineage.
3. The King: Mbande
Authority through contrast.
We used architectural shadows as a grid — negative space became texture.
Subtle bounce on fill side to hold detail, then let contrast tell the story.
Where shadow gives birth to legend, and light remembers the ancestors.
