A glimpse into this years NITP’s Gathering Grounds through the lens of Gill from @madcampproductions For the second year NITP’s Gathering Grounds hosted two major events; @thebuild__up by @arena_snowparks and Creative Surge, all taking place at @silverstarmtnresort Three days of building by a team of women led into a competition made to enhance creativity. Rewarding community with three podiums, ski, snowboard, and photography. I read something today that hit hard… “Creatives who have a raging beast inside them that is only fed by making new things to put into the world… are the most repulsed by AI videos”. I couldn’t agree more. I’ve spent 15 years learning, training, failing, starting again, and falling more in love with the act of creation. I’ve always been a passionate creative. Creative work was always supposed to be about curiosity, discovery… the process. This is a process you cannot simply “automate”. This is a process that is alive. So when I see AI videos that were “generated” rather than built, “prompted” rather than created, it feels disheartening. It sets out to destroy the very thing that feeds the beast. When I hear the “use AI or die” narrative, it’s almost seems like it’s pushed by people who measure work in numbers, rather than in value. The creators are still here, and we care about putting something sensational into this world. Something with true human craft, empathy, and strategic intention. The more we feed the AI machine, the more these qualities are lost. But the good news, is, these qualities have become even more valuable with the rise of AI, as they cannot simply be automated.
