VIALE MOLISE 68 IS MACAO From April 6 to 12, @alcova.milano (in collaboration with @henge__official , @yapa_restaurant , and @radioraheem.milano ) will launch the project “Vocla – Design by Night” inside the former Borsa del Macello at Viale Molise 68—a public space owned by the Municipality of Milan @comune_milano . A space that, with Macao, stood for art, politics, mutualism, and autonomy. A living cultural infrastructure, built day after day by thousands of people, outside the logic of market and control. Today, it is being exhumed as an empty shell—stripped of its community, stripped of the energy that made those walls breathe and vibrate for 10 years. Stripped of those who turned the night into a space of freedom and experimentation, both artistic and political. In its place, the same tired spectacle of “innovative Milan” takes the stage. The inclusivity that was Macao is replaced by the exclusive misery of €130 fine dining and luxury mixologists. The boundless accessibility of spaces and resources is replaced by a pathetic speculative idea of “redevelopment.” Macao is not nostalgia. It is an open wound. It is proof that another way of making a city is possible. It is the dissonant voice that keeps reminding us: It’s not design if there is no justice. It’s not regeneration if it’s gentrification. It’s not culture if it’s exploitation. Milan does not need food festivals with an ethical label slapped on top. It needs autonomous, free, accessible spaces. It needs common goods, not concept stores. It needs conflict, not events. Milan will not be redeveloped with cocktails. Milan must be reclaimed, fought for, imagined. Alcova’s dinner parties make us sick. They feast while our stomachs are in revolt.

We have won! The Alcova project has been relocated from the former stock exchange of the slaughterhouse to another place. That space is Macao. And the city knows it. So much so that every attempt at aesthetic reinvention fails. This is not about nostalgia. It is about collective memory, history, and meaning. It is about necessity. The space is still alive. And those who try to ignore it will slip. Thank you, Alcova. Thank you for bringing to light an undeniable truth: the city no longer needs you. It does not need projects that erase and decorate. It does not need transformations imposed from above. It does not need new “narratives.” It needs justice, access, conflict, care. It needs spaces. We remain hostile to entities like Alcova, which speak of openness and falsely claim accessibility when their only real interest is to create economically and socially exclusive products and opportunities. Let’s reactivate Macao Today, it is clear: gentrification no longer goes unnoticed. People react, speak out, remember. They have expressed a real and collective need: to have a space like Macao again. Necessity has spoken. And it can no longer be ignored. We warmly thank the entire extended community that still carries the energy of Macao within and has made its voice heard loud and clear in these past days. It is time to reopen the space. To return at least a part—like the hall—to the city. To reignite collective imagination. The door has been left ajar. We will not stand by and watch. The city needs living spaces. And we are here.

Per questo oggi non è più possibile immaginare alcun futuro per la palazzina di viale Molise 68 che non parta da lì: da questa potenza collettiva, da questa memoria viva, da questa energia che ancora risuona nei corpi, nei pensieri e nei sogni di chi quella storia l’ha attraversata — o anche solo ne ha colto il senso. Qualsiasi progetto su quello spazio dovrà essere costruito in rappresentanza di questa comunità estesa, che ha già dimostrato — senza finanziamenti, senza autorizzazioni, senza deleghe — cosa può diventare davvero un bene comune. Today Macao turns 13: it is still a voice that continues to question the city, to keep it alive, to hold it accountable. This is why today it is no longer possible to imagine any future for the building at Viale Molise 68 that does not begin there — with that collective power, that living memory, that energy still resonating in the bodies, thoughts, and dreams of those who lived that story, or even just understood its meaning. Any project concerning that space must be built in representation of this extended community, which has already shown — without funding, without permits, without delegation — what a true common good can become.

Ieri Galassia è entrata in @triennalemilano per denunciare la sua complicità con il genocidio del popolo palestinese.
Triennale ospita Inequalities in partnership con @deloitteitaly , @lavazzaofficial , @eni , @idealista_it e @h_lundbeck - tutte aziende coinvolte nell’economia di occupazione israeliana. Galassia chiede a Triennale: 1. la rimozione dell’installazione 471 Days; 2. la pubblica condanna dell’occupazione israeliana della Palestina e del genocidio del popolo palestinese; 3. l’interruzione di ogni partnership con le aziende che generano profitto dall’occupazione e dal genocidio. PARLIAMO DI SPAZI CHE NON CI SONO PIÙ ◼️NERO arriva a Lugano!◼️ In coda agli eventi organizzati da Associazione Idra (@associazioneidra ) presso Villa Saroli che esplorano il tema di spazi culturali che non ci sono ancora e quelli che esistono già, questo appuntamento da noi a Spazio L’Ove si concentra sugli spazi che non ci sono più. In Svizzera italiana, diverse realtà indipendenti hanno rappresentato punti di riferimento culturali e sociali, per poi scontrarsi con difficoltà che ne hanno decretato la fine. L’evento, in collaborazione con NERO (@nero_editions ) si aprirà con la presentazione del pamphlet politico di ecologia radicale Moleculocracy di Emanuele Braga (@emanuele_brag ). A seguire, verrà anticipata l’uscita del volume dedicato alla storia di MACAO, lo spazio indipendente di Milano che per dieci anni ha incarnato un esperimento radicale di autogestione e produzione culturale. A partire da questa esperienza, la discussione si allargherà al contesto della Svizzera italiana, mettendo a confronto il percorso di Macao con quello di diversi spazi che hanno segnato il territorio ticinese. 👀Tra essi: Morel, SOA il Molino, Casotto, Spazio Volta, il Domani.
