🫧 PE 2024!🫧 : : I am so in love with @physical_education.life : @alliehankins @takataka.takataka.takataka and #keyongaskin We started out as friends gathering over wine and snacks to talk about dance and performance and 11 years later we continue to shape-shift and still cultivate that vibe. These past ten days we facilitated and performed at SFDI (Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation) @velocity_seattle and connected with other incredible artists and students of dance. I was so impressed and enthralled by the high level of heart and curiosity in each class. We also produced our own mini-fest in Portland, OR SAY WHEN @pwnwpdx . Thank you Cosmos Dark @browncalculus , #jesspretty, and @midorihirose for your stunning performances. And I finally got to share the film I filmed in Portland. I am feeling blessed. I would do it again.

GHOST BARRELS a new performance w @lu_yim @funtofuntofunto @arg___art thursday january 8, 7p free with rsvp at @sick_center , @recessart please join our year of circling something to get closer to. since the spring we’ve been talking in trio, our starting point is the apparition of once-in-material-world-but-now-nonexistent historical “bed pianos” built for horizontal in valid players. we follow layered tangents from there, together, into sick score-making, fictional music, the legend of the first piano in Korea, music with colonial violent ends (“play the melody with your trigger finger!”), and tendrils of connection and permission between disabled artists. masked, with air purifiers, and wheelchair accessible with accessible bathroom. email [email protected] if you have any access questions or requests.

금마타리(Infinite Love) May 2025 Photo Documentation: Rachel Papo @rachelpapo : is a sound and light installation completed through performance. Location: A.I.R. Gallery Performance by: Cynthia Chang, Kate Williams, Lu Yim, Stine An Movement Direction/Choreography: Lu Yim  Sound Description: Kiera Bono Clothing Construction: Kate Williams (vintage tour jacket, military fatigues, misc. fabric) Sound Consultant: @iv_act Speaker Wiring: @jeremy__wy Lighting Programming: @sortofhere Production Support: @margarheath Bronze Fabrication: Josie Crookston Metal Fabrication: @hossly Performance Assistant: Ruby Jagel Performance made possible with support, in part, from a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant PRESS RELEASE (excerpt): 금마타리(Infinite Love) is a response to the way sound has been instituted as a weapon at the Koreas’ Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Yim choreographs from a consumed place, asking performers to engage with material from found and fictional archives surrounding the 38th Parallel as if it is matter to be swallowed and digested on a cellular level. As each performer moves from assimilative knowledge toward sensation, they also move from the conscious realm to the unconscious, the hard to grasp, and the virtual. Utilizing somatic inquiry and embodied disability practices, they consider how bodily dissociation might serve as an analogue for the experience of virtuality to interrupt and disturb a disembodiment shaped by U.S. militarism within a global past that continues to unfold into the present.

금마타리(Infinite Love) A.I.R. Gallery April 26-May 25, 2025 Installation can be viewed Wed-Sun 12-6 Closing Performance Sunday May 25 2-4pm @gregorspamsa @boiled_wool @temp.girl.1.2.3 In 금마타리(Infinite Love), a disembodied voice, the backmasked cry of a red-crowned crane, and the disuse of assimilative knowledge, become a theater for a performance built on absence. This project considers bodily dissociation as a sensorial experience of virtuality, feeling what is hard to grasp as sensation’s very nature. In forming a virtual kinship with unseen entities within the Demilitarized Zone of the Korean Peninsula, Yim encounters the metaphysical alongside a long history of Western Imperialism and its weaponization of sound and voice.

Brutality of Fatigue (2024) : Brutality of Fatigue is an ensemble work, created thru somatic scores shaped and inspired by hyper-sensation, pain and fatigue. This work is quiet, intimate, and persistent, in dialogue with the ever expansive space of our interior. When in a sick body, access to interior space is necessary and frightening. Its a ride, to experience our exterior spaces, our social and familial contexts, our known bodies, disintegrate and reform. The scores that were developed to make this work come from the disintegration. The work itself is a house for a something to emerge. The performers in this iteration make the work what it is. Their openness, commitment, and friendship made this possible. Their trust in the process when language is lacking. Endless gratitude for y’alls work to make this thus far @boiled_wool @dancews @namicake73 @takataka.takataka.takataka and #ryheart (not featured in this iteration) and Lauren Tosswill for her presence of sound (not featured in this iteration). Thank you to Performance SpaceNY summer program to re-film the Work-in-Progress. Lighting - Maggie Heath @margarheath Filming/Editing - Henry Craddock @henrycraddock Production Assistent - ruby jagel

Julie Tolentino & I have a work included in @queerart ’s new exhibition, ‘Flagging the Circle’ a stunning group exhibition of collaboratively made artworks by 60+ queer artists from the Queer|Art|Mentorship community. The centerpiece of the exhibition is an online silent auction raising funds to support the Queer|Art|Mentorship program. I was a part of this program in 2023 with @thejulietolentino as my mentor, and if I must say, this org is worth throwing your money at. The silent auction is now LIVE and accepting bids! Online bids: bit.ly/qa-pride-auction If in NYC, you can see the works IRL, on view from June 11th–20th @sargentsdaughters gallery.

b r u t a l i t y o f f a t i g u e March 31, 2024 : WIP collaboratively presented by @performance.space.new.york x @queerart photos: Rachel Papo : : This is third in a series of research into portals, creating hyper-attentive forms with and from pain and sensation. : I had the privilege and pleasure of working with these amazing group of performers: Nami Yamamoto, Cynthia Chang, Takahiro Yamamoto, ry heart, ella dawn w-s, and Lauren Tosswill. I received amazing support from Queer | Art and Performance Space to make this happen. Some funding came with this via artist stipends, with funds from me, the artist, supplementing, and all possible because the cast offered their labor out of love. Shout out to @ielepaloumpis for making access work happen in this production and for gathering us together in solidarity for a Free Palestine. Also shout out to @tessdworman who did Audio Description for the evening.
