Cynthia Chang is dumb like a dog dragging their butt across the pavement, but maybe that’s actually smart & resourceful? It’s a good way to scratch an itch, but it’s possible that a good idea is just incidental. The universe is forever orchestrating a funnier joke, rubbing their face in its absurdities. How can Chang compete with a trail of toilet paper stuck to a shoe? Living in a politicized body, humor & play function as survival mechanisms. With a curiosity towards labor, Chang over works their ideas regarding repair & tedium as essential tenets of their practice.
Bea Willemsen is a queer ceramic artist based in Portland, ME. They are self-taught in clay & focus on large handbuilt sculptures in porcelain and earthenware that explore themes of queer identity, home, and foundations of self. Their work plays in the planck space between identity politics & ephemeral memory, dwelling in the tension between the iterations of self & the world around those selves.
Goldfinch Bolton is a nonbinary artist based in Brooklyn NY working primarily in sculpture/installation works. Their work explores ideas of the unconscious boundaries surrounding artwork, what we consider living beings, & introspective tenderness, & occasionally addresses labor rights and environmental issues. Their work incorporates found materials & textiles in a transformative synthesis to create surreal & living sculptures that allow viewers to reflect upon the human condition & the binding neutral miasma that all organic things share.
Crater Powers is a Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary sculptor from Cape Cod. His practice seeks to materialize the ephemeral experiences of queer nightlife & subculture. Drawing from the visual languages of raves, furries, drag, & internet culture, he explores how shared experiences of marginalization can act as a pathway to connection & allow queer individuals to defy the suppression of their identities.
