On view now in Alchemists: Live Wire, by Sofia Klimkowski Arango 2024, 70” x 42” x 32, TC2 Jacquard weaving, steel Live Wire captures the ignition of a spark felt between a fleeting connection— burning hot, bright, and sharp, the afterimage left in its wake stinging behind closed eyelids. Staunchly yellow, this TC2 jacquard woven tapestry hangs from bastardized powerlines made of coiled and bent steel. Within it, imagery of dappled lighting taken through the windows of fast moving cars, powerlines, and viewfinder grids are digitally distorted to build their own contradiction: oscillating between camouflage and crosshairs. Live Wire begs the question: will you be a passenger to your passion, letting it drift away, or will you chart your own course and chase that spark?
