On a recent project in Toronto, we treated light as a language to activate a hallway, guiding the eye down the space as you move through it. Omnispatial thinking is about building bridges across mediums so stories can move beyond flat, rigid materials.

LMNL on the Move ✈️ Tiny trend report from our intrepid design strategist Lauren Perich at Milano Design Week. Salon de Mobile 2026 was a wonderful, inspiring, and busy show with so much to see from designers and brands all over the world. The scale of it was impressive and we definitely got our steps in! The diversity of brands from many cultures and backgrounds felt very communal and connects us all as stewards of great design. There were unmistakable themes of multi sensory experiences between intentional audio tracks, projection mapping and curated scents. Connections with nature and a sense of discovery within exhibits kept visitors engaged and curious. Some of our favorites were from @arper , @blastation , @kreoodesign , Mara, Serafini connecting cultures at Salone Raritas, Jimmy Rojas lighting, Estudio @uultis Brasil, and Dreamlux fiber optic fabric.

In partnership with @thisiscle and @onehatonehand , we created a monument that celebrates the city’s pioneering role in electric lighting and honors the donors who helped bring new energy to the heart of downtown Cleveland. Cast in bronze and illuminated from within, the design takes inspiration from Charles F. Brush’s groundbreaking 1878 Arc Lamp, the world’s first electric streetlight, transforming that legacy into a glowing symbol of innovation, gratitude, and community. As evening falls, A Legacy of Light connects Cleveland’s past to its future ✨ 📸: @vividcle

The future isn’t something we wait for—it’s something we shape.  At the 2025 SEGD Conference in San Francisco, designers and storytellers alike will come together to explore how design can build more connected, equitable, and imaginative worlds.  Jamie Shaw (@cupcakery71 ), partner at LMNL Studio (@lmnlstudio ), explores how technology can be treated as a material layer in the built environment. Through her practice of omnispatial design, she bridges architecture, technology, and storytelling to reimagine how we design across physical and virtual space.  At the conference, Shaw will share how immersive tools are transforming how we prototype feelings, engage communities, and envision the spaces of tomorrow.  This year’s conference theme, Designing Possible Futures, invites us to shape—not wait for—the world ahead. In a city defined by experimentation and layered histories, we’ll explore what design can become when rooted in care, equity, and complexity.  Register now at segd.org/events #SEGDConference #DesigningPossibleFutures #ExperienceDesign #OmnispatialDesign #DesignInnovation #DesignLeadership

Once again, our teams at LMNL Studio and @onehatonehand are honored to participate in one of our favorite charitable events of the year – Chairity – in which local design studios create furnishings and fixtures from upcycled materials, then auction them off to benefit vital organizations.
 Hosted by @twofurnish Chairity is where creativity, community, and connection come together. This year’s roster of participants has upcycled forgotten items into one-of-a-kind works of art, furniture, lighting, and more. Over the last 8 years, the auction and contributing donors have raised nearly 600k for our local community! This year’s recipients of fundraising will be:

@industrial_design_outreach_inc@latinotaskforcesf@projectcolorcorps
Our entry this year is titled As Above, So Below. Constructed of mixed media (wood, stainless steel, lighting), the piece is a vintage child’s chair, suspended upside down, resting on a glowing half arch and set into a wooden plinth. A mirrored surface completes the arc, creating the illusion of a perfect circle and a chair floating within it. The title borrows the alchemical phrase, “as above, so below,” where reflection and geometry reveal harmony between opposites. Familiar material—wood, metal, light—is transmuted into a meditation on balance, memory, and the thresholds between reality and illusion. Interested in supporting this wonderful cause? You can easily make a donation by going to link in our bio. ⚡️🪑

We stopped by Biblioteca Vasconcelos while on a field trip to Mexico City and we were struck with awe at this architectural feat. Suspended in light and steel, the library unfolds as a layered landscape of knowledge. Books seem to hover in a lattice of glass and metal. It’s an Omnispatial landmark where architecture blurs the boundary between the tangible framework and endless interior. Rarely does a space feel so cinematic, as if we stepped straight into a scene in Interstellar.

We love public spaces that invite people to stop, play, and interact with art. Daydreamer by @dailytlj at @ncartmuseum hits all the right notes.
 This set of rocking benches responds to motion with glowing lights and gentle harmonies made entirely by human voices. As we moved, the benches sang back shifting tone and tempo based on our rhythm and sync.
 Part sculpture, soundscape, and connector. We felt like kids again!

We had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with @letterformarchive getting a deep dive into their collection of type, print, and graphic design history. Located in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood, Letterform Archive is a nonprofit center for design education and inspiration. With over 100,000 pieces spanning centuries, it’s a rare exhibit where history becomes tactile. Interacting directly and holding pieces from the collection made the experience all the more inspiring. Huge thanks to Kate (@kateallalong ) for hosting us!

🎉Welcome Milla Anum (@creativecreature23 ) to the LMNL Studio team! 📐
 Currently studying design at San José State University, Milla brings a sharp eye for visual storytelling through typography, illustration, and color theory. Her most recent focus has been designing posters. With growing interests in UI/UX and motion graphics, she will be supporting the studio in brand, social, and learning about the omnispatial approach. Swipe to see her recent work including The Trip Hop Experience, a semester-long branding exploration that immerses audiences in the genre’s history, instruments, and moods, culminating in a 3D installation inspired by Jamaican Sound System Culture. You can listen to the Playlist on Spotify 🎧
 We’re thrilled to have her on board as our new Junior Designer! 🎉
