Five years later, and still just as vibrant 🌈
This 300-foot mural at Bridlemile Elementary in SW Portland was the result of more than a year of planning and one unforgettable weekend of painting brought to life by 130 volunteers made up of parents, kids, and teachers.
Feeling the need for community and connection during the early months of the pandemic, I spent the year leading up to this project managing the vision, partnerships, and details it took to bring it to life. From coordinating logistics with
@portland_public_schools to rallying volunteers and securing resources, it was truly a labor of love- and one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever been part of.
Designed in collaboration with my friend, fellow Bridlemile parent and Nike Color Designer
@lovelywinnie , and shaped with student input, the mural was created to be a joyful anchor in our community. With generous support from
@roddamillerpaint and
@projectcolorcorps - who also helped bring art education into the process- this project became so much more than a mural. I’m forever grateful that I met
@pujisherer in the early planning stages – her energy, enthusiasm, and skill shaped this project, and I’ve been lucky to call her a friend and creative collaborator ever since.
Five years in, our Bridlemile Mural is still a bright part of the daily backdrop in our community, and a colorful reminder of what can be created when people come together.
