Congrats to @zakkwyldebls & @blacklabelsocietyofficial on the release of their great new record “Engines of Demolition” out today.
🎸 Back in February I had the pleasure of speaking with Zakk about the record & getting a sneak peak at his then-unheard tribute to his mentor @ozzyosbourne for @spinmag .
♥️ I also spoke with his wonderful wife @barbarannewylde about her take on the album & her family’s deep bonds with the Osbourne family including @sharonosbourne .
😊 I’m so happy to see other media following my lead and giving Barb credit for her work as Zakk’s manager (and his rock) as he takes on new challenges in his career.
🎥 The last slide is a video created with the new software called #Editory which I was invited to test out. It creates scripts based on published articles. As journalists like myself look for new ways to translate our work for social media I’ll be experimenting more with talk-to-the-camera style posts to promote my stories.
🤘🏽This will be a process as it’s pretty new for me but I will always prioritize the printed word. I’d love feedback on what works & what doesn’t.

I started writing for LA Times about 25 years ago under Robert Hilburn, working with him as well as Richard Cromelin and Kevin Bronson. I learned so much. Thank you to these esteemed editors (& my editors at the Weekly back in the day) for all that they taught me. And thanks to my current editor @naterodamus too. It’s been a joy working with him since the OC Weekly days! Finally, more thanks to Flea for being an expressive, open and honest interview subject. It made writing this easy & so enjoyable. Get his beautiful new solo record HONORA out now and if for some reason you missed his memoir from a few years ago, I highly rec the audio version which he reads, for an immersive flashback of LA’s alternative music scene. 2025 was one of the most challenging years of my journalism career, but it was also the most rewarding…Sometimes you need a nudge in life to push you to your full potential. Always grateful to @lapressclub for recognizing my work, but this year might mean the most. Thanks to all the great editors I’ve worked with as I’ve returned to freelancing especially @lizalentini at @spin for challenging me with an out of the box assignment (a tarot reading/interview!) on @jayyywood & to @guerin_ad@shirleyhalperin & @millmania at @hollywoodreporter for letting me craft a deep dive into the @grammys new -but not so new- album cover art category. I also submitted writing from @latimes@music_connection & the last batch of stories I did for @lamag as well as my #linainla @substack newsletter for the music & indie journalist categories. Coachella might have gotten an inordinate amount of attention the past few weeks due to pop chart presence & the celebrity/ influencer element, but heavy music festivals are just as popular & they are thriving around the country! @sicknewworld was a great example. Happy DAY AFTER Record Store Day— when I encourage everyone to support your local record shop beyond the official industry day of drops. Yes lots of really cool stuff came out yesterday & most of it sold out, but if you love vinyl please also support small businesses like @sickcityrecords@recordsafari_la@licoricepizzarecords & lesser known outskirt shops like @voodoo.vinyl in Lancaster & @grayskullvinyl in Santa Clarita (seen here on my cool T-shirt by @toxictoons ). Currently working on a definitive guide to record shops in LA & I want to include ALL the little stores no one talks about along with the faves. Please DM me with suggestions from off the beaten path. TY! 💚
