Who got you smiling like that? Food. That’s who. Last week’s event brought youth #art to the table, opening dialogue around how food shapes culture and identity.

In 2004, when Facebook was just getting college students connected, the Levine Museum of the New South was spotlighting the history that reshaped education. On June 10, the museum hosted Through the Eyes of the Law to mark 50 years since Brown v. Board of Education, featuring legal leaders Julius Chambers, Matthew J. Perry, and Sydnor Thompson. Two very different moments, both changing how students experience #education.

1,400 people served every day 🤯 Last month, our team volunteered at Roof Above, an organization that provides street outreach, basic services, shelter, and housing support. @roofabove makes our community stronger, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside them in this important work of ending homelessness. #FeelGoodFriday #Volunteerism #Charlotte

In 2002, Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers: Charlotte and the Carolina Piedmont in the New South was named one of the best exhibitions in the Southeast by the @semcdirect Curators’ Committee! From local roots to regional recognition, this moment helped cement our place as a cultural force in the New South.

Great food 🤝 great conversation 🤝 great impact Last week we hosted our largest fundraising event of the year, Catalyst. Our favorite part? Gathering the community around one big table to talk about the power of food. Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to make this work possible. @soulfoodscholar @your_braisen_chef @americanheritagechocolate @alexgilestv @lanceontime

The year is 2001… 25 years ago. Let that sink in. A new century was beginning, and with it, a new way to tell the story of the New South. We built a 7,800 sqft, immersive history experience, Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers: Reinventing Charlotte and the Carolina Piedmont in the New South, featuring: - A recreated lunch counter - A bus that carried stories of resilience - Thaddeus Tate’s Barber Shop - F.A. Clinton’s desk It wasn’t just an exhibit. It was a space to remember, to reflect, and to understand how the past continues to shape our present.
