Public Disco returns to @city_centre_artist_lodge for another summer on our favourite Main Street dance floor. Headlining sets from Musclecars (NYC) and DJ Heather (CHI), with local support from Luke McKeehan and Lerma.
Musclecars are the NYC duo of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. Known for blending house, disco, jazz, and soul, they launched @coloringlessons to bring New York’s dance music scene back to its golden era. DJ Heather has been a fixture in Chicago’s house music scene for decades, known for her versatility across house, jazz, soul, hip hop and rare groove. She played a surprise set at our very first event at Jim Deva Plaza back in 2017, and we’re glad to finally have her back properly.

Okay, but the real throwback is this week’s DJ set at Gorg from 5-8 am on April 12th. This Club was the second nightclub I attended on my first night out in Vancouver in April 2014. What a coincidence that I am making my debut there in April 2026. Maybe not, but I am always paying attention to little subtleties like this🪄🔮

for those that don’t know lerma is a vancouver-based dj who grew up in saint petersburg and immersed herself in the underground scene through the city’s historic bunker, club tunnel. she is quickly becoming a Vancouver favourite for her collection of house, techno, breaks, and everything in between.

Lerma is a Vancouver-based DJ with over a decade of experience collecting electronic music, specializing in an intelligent blend of house, techno, and breaks. Known for her "sassy, sexy, and silly" style, she draws from deep roots in Russian underground club culture. She frequently performs at venues like Paradise, Village Studios, and Celebrities in Vancouver along with various festival appearances in western Canada, including a standout set at Basscoast 2025.
We are thrilled to include Lerma at MEME on June 6th for her first set in Manitoba!
Finally set up the decks! I am excited to learn some new skills and build my collection. I really enjoy the idea of being less digital and relying on my ears. I am gonna try to keep a record of my progress and failures here as I set some goals for myself.
P.S. Fun story: @dj_teebz and I decided to gift each other some gear for Christmas to fulfill this little desire to play on vinyl. He said he wants to get us a mixer, and I said I will get us new needles. We separately found stuff on Facebook Marketplace and scheduled our pickups on the same day, surprisingly. When I asked him where he going, it turned out we were going to the same place! Lolz
