This Saturday we combine forces with
@subdidi and
@mada_p to bring a dream team to our new warehouse spot
@xone.vancouver , with SUBDIDI and Adam along with
@karennjoki and
@na_lu_le behind the decks
The curation focuses on Black histories and futures through experimentation, legacy, catharsis, and a love for the local. The air will be thick with undulating basslines, twisting drums, and throttling breaks.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘ ✦ about Njoki Njoki ✦
Mixing high-octane energy with raw, industrial grit, NJOKI aims to redefy the boundaries of the modern dance floor. While their foundation is built on the driving pulse of Techno and Trance, their true sonic identity lies in the vibrant, rebellious spirit of the Global South. Blending diasporic soundscapes layered with techno melodies. Njoki aims to bring an uplifted fantasy of pride; deep rooted in childhood memories. Intertwining between genres such as Baile, Afro, Neoperreo, to Gqom and Amapinao blending a mixture of eclectic sounds and textures.
✦ about Adam ✦
ADAM is an artist based in “Vancouver”, BC, whose multi-disciplinary practice meshes sound, curation, performance and visual art. Using these languages as a narrative tool, their sets focus on experimental, referential, and emotive storytelling. Blending the contemporary with the ancestral, they create a new post-modernist sound using references from dubstep, trance, gqom, illbient, club music and beyond. ADAM’s sound is frenetic, entheogenic, sub-heavy, and hard-hitting. With a heavy focus on meticulous sound design and the mutations of genre, ADAM’s sets take you on a sonic exploration of social resistance, freedom in identity, and dancefloor awakenings.
