My video about the weirdly fascinating life of Dare Wright and her mother helped me reach 10,000 followers so I thought Iād re-introduce myself!
Do we have any niche obsessions in common? I would love to meet you in the comments! š¤
If you have noticed that the media industry that once mocked and ridiculed and shamed Lena Dunham is now celebrating her memoir⦠if you helplessly followed every twist in turn in LāAffaire Nuzzi/Lizza/RFK⦠if youāre seeing Devil Wears Prada 2 in theaters⦠if you want a juicy novel about a tabloid journalist who will go to crazy lengths to get the scoop on a has-been star in order to advance her own career in a dying industry⦠add THE SCOOP to your TBR immediately!
This novel is filled with dirt from Erinās own experience working in digital media in the 2010s.
Erin took a plot class from me and Julia Phillips at Catapult in January of 2020 (!!) and SIX YEARS LATER, I got to celebrate her launch in Chicago @madstreetbooks who graciously hosted us! Thank you, Mary!

Twelve years ago, I had an idea to start a conference for members of the Binders Full of Women Writers group on Facebook. At one of our LA conferences, @robinnelee and @justjuliawhelan both signed up to sit at a novelists lunch table and thatās where they met. Robinne had not yet published THE IDEA OF YOU and Julia had not yet published MY OXFORD YEAR.
Robinne lives in Paris, Julia lives in California, and I live in Chicago, but last night we all got to be in the same room thanks to @brisacarleton who is a novelist, a producer, and a genius at bringing the right people together.
As much as it cost me to create BinderCon, I never regret the experience, because it connected me to so many beautiful people, and inspired me to write a scathing satire of the 2016 feminism I survived as a broke nonprofit girlboss. š
If you are a fan of Shari Frankeās memoir, Iām Glad My Mom Died, or The Mother Next Door by Andrea Dunlop, I would highly recommend Like, Follow, Subscribe by @hifortesa
I started following Fortesaās journalism while I was writing my TikTok hype house novel and creating the characters Mindy (a mommy blogger from the 2000s) and Piper (her daughter, a second-generation influencer). The mommy bloggers paved the way for todayās content creators to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars from sponsored content. This is a fascinating book about an ethically complex sector of the internet, and a work of internet history at the same time.

Brad Listi hosts one of the longest running literary interview podcasts @otherppl.podcast and is such a generous reader and listener. Iāve been a guest on his show four times and today I got to interview him about what motivates him to talk to writers about their work, and the art of the longform interview.
