Big thanks to @plasa , so much new and exciting stuff out there... Had a good chat with the folks at @instagridpower , a really innovative solution to the move away from fossil fuels, Caught an inspiring seminar by @maya.gribby with some beautiful imagery really pushing the need for playfulness and experimenting with light, something very close to my heart. I also managed to get to see @davidhowardlightingdesign run through a master class and teach an old @chamsysltd dog some new tricks.
Chamsys duck is now settled into her new home on the other side of the hills...

Had a really brilliant day at @venturearts_ doing some CPD with @leeway_creative learning how to turn Florence’s houses installation into indoor lamps! We all had a go at soldering, drilling, electronics and PAT testing! 💪🏼💡🏠
Over the last few days we've had the pleasure of working with @citrusartsuk to lead some workshops on outdoor lighting as part of their Art Worker training. More than a dozen inspiring, enthusiastic and creative people on their way to forming part of the next generation of Creative Practitioners have had a great taste of outdoor art creation and made something unique and very special. Since working with Light Night Wigan on technical production, Leeway have focused on reducing diesel reliance using battery technologies.
Our Light Night Wigan network partners—Gemma and Jude of Things That Go On Things, and Location Power —were supportive of this shift towards cleaner technologies.
Their power plan reduced generators from five to one, cutting fuel consumption by around 50%. Working with artists to manage power consumption resulted in reducing fuel use from 680 litres in the early years of the festival down to just 42 litres in 2025! It moves them one step closer to a shared ambition: a Light Night Wigan powered entirely without diesel generators!
