Sunday morning at ArtsEverywhere Festival! ✨ Bend your ear: a panel conversation on listening With Christopher Willes, L CON (Lisa Conway), meLê yamomo How might listening collaboratively, listening to the periphery, and opening ourselves to the invitation nested within failure and slippage offer other ways of navigating this moment together? Join sound scholar and dramaturg meLê Yamomo, composer and artist Lisa Conway, and composer/musician and dramaturg Christopher Willes in a rich overlapping conversation about their sound practices and research. The panelists will explore how mistakes can contribute to wilder art practices; how Deep Listening practices and collaborative scoremaking invite deeper attention to community; and how listening and sounding the periphery offer ways of being together differently. They will draw on their diverse practices—from decolonizing early sound archives, glitch, error, and troubleshooting, to the relationship of sound to place. Curated and moderated by Anna Bowen. The conversation will include an embodied exercise led by meLê Yamomo. hi internet! been in winter mode chipping away at phd + new record + français + seasonal depression but emerging for a couple moments this month à Montréal - no tape machine or song singing but some nice bleeps + bloops avec mes amis 🎛️ feb 7 - improv set (synths, electronic-y things, saxophone) with @missngmusic + simon labbe feb 27 - joining @edeneg + dan (of ring hollow) on various electronics to perform our contribution to the musicians for palestine compilation involving a lot of pals photo by the lovely @stacyleepictures from the shoot for @musicworksmag … check out the latest issue if you haven’t yet! hold each other close, more soon 🌷

bonne nuit 2025! incredibly grateful to have had a year filled with art + adventure + friends, including experiencing turrell’s work at mass moca, to wading through an old cistern in coimbra in gumboots as part of the cardiff + miller exhibit, to experiencing the singular force of louise lecavalier in montréal. icymi, @jacksondarbyyy + i released a collaborative record together of tape loops / modular synthesizer / electronics in february (still avail on bandcamp!). i was also thrilled to perform a set to sound bathers floating and swimming in a pool, as well as be a part of the reflux festival in moncton, nb. thank you to @victoria_l0ng for trusting me to score her beautiful debut short ECHO, and to @phedreamour , @fittonia_sings , pete johnston (stranger still), banal collective, and @iwamusic13 for involving me in their projects as a mix engineer. in academia + phd land, i survived my comprehensive exams, found the bravery to present my research at conferences in portugal + arizona, and submitted my first journal article to be published in 2026. i still haven’t taken my skis on the metro, or cooked a steak (some of my very earnest goals for 2025), but i did see a road runner in real life in the desert, organize a ping pong tournament, + there’s a new L CON record in the works, so maybe it all balances it out in the end 🪬🔮 it’s a weird hard time of year, and i’m only sharing the good stuff ~ don’t be a stranger, if you phone me spontaneously, there’s a very good chance i’ll pick up 💕
