So thrilled that our book ‘We Sing!’, written by the brilliant Kristyn Getty and illustrated by myself, is out in the world as of today! 🎉 I convinced my husband David to figure out a classic @gettymusic tune on this little music box to mark the occasion (he loved it), along with a peek at some of the illustrations I made. Points if you can tell me what the song is…? Also, please excuse all the holes I punched through the faces of these happy children… haha. 🎵
I grew up singing Kristyn’s music in church so it was a total pleasure to work on this project ♥️ There’s a lot of time and love poured into this book and I’m incredibly grateful to @crosswaybooks for all their work on it. You can find it through the link in my bio ✨

For Valentine’s Day the folk at @farrowandball commissioned me to make you a little bunch of flowers using their beautiful new paint colours - here’s how they came together ♥️ I’ve been using their tester pots on my miniature frames recently and I just loved working with these new muted tones - particularly the yellow and peach and this soft blue on the frame. A dream collaboration for a colour anorak like myself! A small stamp drop is on the way! I’ll be adding these three framed originals to my shop on Tuesday 19th at 5pm GMT, so make a wee note and be quick if you’ve had your eye on one 🤞 Each of these took many hours and layers to piece together, hand cut with a pair of @fiskars scissors, which were originally designed in the Finnish village I spent a month in as the @onomagram artist in residence. I am really missing these peaceful scenes being on my doorstep!
There are also a handful of new risograph mini cards on their way, so keep an eye out for those too ✨

One of my favourite paper pieces to make for my current exhibition was this one, based on a hidden gem in Helsinki, the Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall 🏊🏻♀️ I had a couple of days out in the city while I was staying in Finland, and I was considering going for more day trips just for the joy of swimming here! The building was designed in the 1920s by Väinö Vähäkallio, and is such a tranquil space to be, with separate days for men and women, saunas and a bar, and the option of wearing a swimming costume (my British family were in shock 😳). I actually felt quite emotional bobbing around with all these ladies of different ages, embracing their bodies and taking time out of their days to be in community and look after themselves in such a beautiful space. You can’t take photos inside, so I wanted to try and capture the place in a little paper scene. Afterwards my Finish friend Saara introduced me to her dad, a master potter, who handmade some of the tiles for the pool when it recently reopened. 💙

Somehow this was the first time I’ve properly exhibited work here in Glasgow, but it’s something I’ve wanted to do for ages and I just needed a good deadline to break me out of my comfort zone… maybe you can tell, but I am just a couple of months away from having my first baby (much more obvious from side on).😅 I knew time was ticking and that this would be a special way to mark the end of this phase of life as I know it! Thanks again to everyone who has popped by to see this show, and I hope to do more in the future when/if life settles down.♥️
The show continues from today till Sunday the 3rd of May, so you still have a bit of time to catch it in the Southside. Some of the pieces will be heading onto another exhibition in the States (details to follow) and some will be added to my shop - I’ll decide a date soon and post it here first. 😌 Final thanks to @n.atelier for this beautiful space and to @thelittleframingco for putting together some of their always brilliant frames in time for this!

The sun has arrived in Glasgow just in time for my wee solo show, which opened today at @natelier.41 🥳 I’ve really loved making these pieces and figuring out all the details of this exhibiting since getting back from my Finnish residency, so I hope it shows when you come and see it! I’ve had this old secondhand locket sat in an envelope for a while now, and I finally got round to filling it with a little paper scene while I was away in Finland. Of course it’s another frozen lake… a very fiddly one that was quite limiting with its scale, but a good challenge as always!
I’m installing this and more of my work from that trip at the beautiful N.Atelier in Glasgow today, opening tomorrow and running to the 3rd of May - I can’t wait to have it all up on the wall! The open evening is on Saturday 25th from 6-8pm, and all are very welcome to pop in for a drink and a closer look! This piece and a couple of other framed ones will be available to purchase 😌 I’d love to see what I can fit inside another locket or two in the future, so I will do some serious eBay digging when I can!

A quick close up of one of my Finland inspired paper cut stamps, along with the sketch and the scene it’s roughly based on ❄️ While I was staying in @fiskars_village , I went for many many walks to the frozen lakes on the outskirts of the village and would sit there for as long as possible. These were the most peaceful moments, so I wanted to capture a bit of that stillness here.
I’m so looking forward to exhibiting these pieces next week in @natelier.41 ☺️ I’m still bringing things together behind the scenes, so if you find yourself in the Southside of Glasgow in the next couple of weeks, come and see what I’ve put together for it!

A little look at some of the steps behind putting together this page for a prospective picture book ✨ This week is @bolognachildrensbookfair and, while I’m sad to not be there this year to soak up the fair and the daily tirimisu, I’m excited that a new version of this old children’s book is being passed around by my agent Helen from @pickledink . This is High-Vis Vincent - a project from a number of years ago, now reinvented as a bear (because there just aren’t enough books with bears as main characters, I’m sure you’ll agree…) and given a bit of painterly love since my way of working has softened! It’s been fun revisiting this character and story after I made it back in art school, so we’ll see where it goes next. If you’re a publisher at the fair and would like to see it in full, you can try to track lovely @inklingpress down, or get in touch with me and I’ll pop over a pdf. There’s also a wee synopsis in the Bookseller magazine, so I’ve been told! 💛

While I was away in Finland last month, I used some of the time to make a few of my hand cut stamps based on my new surroundings - here are three of them along with a small announcement at the end! Most days of the residency I could be found outside painting and sketching when the weather was good, and when it wasn’t, I took those drawings back to the place I was staying and cut them out in miniature form. I really fussed over ever shape with these, but it’s always a delicate balance of how much detail to add… I tried to include a tiny a deer in the front of one but they’re the most annoying animals to capture correctly, so I gave up and added some letter boxes instead!
Now for some news… I am preparing a small exhibition including these Finnish pieces and a collection of miniatures I have in progress called ‘the Wee Small Hours’, which will be heading across the pond in June (more details on that to come!). Before that, I wanted to show some of these works at home here in Glasgow. @natelier , a gorgeous little exhibition space and cafe in the Southside, will have a selection of work up on its walls from the 23rd* of April-3rd of May 🥳 We’ll be having an open evening on Saturday the 25th so please save the date, and stop by for a drink and a look through the magnifying glasses! 🔍☺️ Excited to show you what I’ve been making!
