Vivan Las Abuelas! 👵🏼 Spanish superhero grandmothers crocheted giant shade canopies to cool down their town are located in Alhaurín de la Torre, Andalusia, Spain. Led by local crochet teacher Eva Pacheco and her students, they covered the main shopping street with nearly 500 square meters of colorful, handmade, eco-friendly, and recycled crochet panels.
☀️The initiative was designed to combat high summer temperatures and replace traditional plastic, non-eco-friendly tarps with sustainable, shade-producing textiles.

During an Orange County Board of Supervisors meeting on April 28, more than a dozen members of the public made inflammatory, anti-Muslim remarks in response to the board recognizing Eid al-Fitr for the first time in OC history. Speakers also referenced the recent introduction of Assembly Bill 2017, a CAIR California-sponsored legislation to recognize Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as official state holidays. In response, OC Board of Supervisors Chairman @supervisorchaffee , Vice Chair @supervisorfoley , and Supervisor @ocsupsarmiento spoke in support of the Muslim community, emphasizing their positive contributions to the county.

No Other Land has just won a Peabody for Best Documentary.
The No Other Land team is honored to win this award, in addition to winning the Oscar for Best Documentary last year.
We made this film to help stop the ethnic cleansing of our communities. But things have gotten worse in Masafer Yatta since we won the Oscar. Our filmmakers are targets of the Israeli occupation, and we truly need the world’s help to ensure we can remain on our land.
