I recently sat down with Tanya McRae on “In Focus SoCal” Spectrum News 1 SoCal to discuss the future of Costal Erosion in California.
Learn a little ocean science this Sunday morning. Watch the full interview here:

The more sand we add to the beaches, the more the sand will stick. We're getting $3,000 on every dollar returned on our investment. The beaches are a crucial part of our county infrastructure. We need to start treating them like that.
On Armed Forces Day, we honor the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard, National Guard servicemembers currently standing watch, training, deploying, and preparing to risk everything to serve and protect us.
As the sister and granddaughter of veterans, I understand the costs of combat. We thank these brave servicemembers and their families with our continued commitment to serving them as they serve our country -- with great pride.
102,155 Fifth District residents rely on Medi Cal, and 35,211 receive CalFresh. H.R. 1 places vulnerable residents at risk of losing basic health care coverage and access to critical services.
For older adults, a missed letter, confusing form, or late document can interrupt benefits, even when someone still needs help. Please do not ignore Medi Cal, Cal Fresh, or County Social Services notices.
My office continues urging the state for support, while working closely with County Social Services and healthcare partners to help residents stay connected to food, care, and transportation. If you need help, call my office at (714) 834-3550 — We are here to serve.
The Fabulous Fifth is home to three of the state's safest cities, thanks to the tireless work of our Orange County Sheriff’s Department and local police departments.
This Police Week, we celebrate our work together protecting Orange County families by:
- Investing in technology and drones to reduce home burglaries and retail thefts.
- Reducing D5 burglaries by 26%, and overall crime by 13%.
- Banning nitrous oxide and kratom sales.
- Achieving a record five-year low in fentanyl-related deaths through dedicated enforcement and education.
- Protecting drivers from catalytic converter theft.
- Clearing illegal encampments across public property and flood control areas.
- Launching a human trafficking pilot program to better protect minors in our community.
- Bringing probation and rehabilitation services directly into neighborhoods countywide, and more.
Together, we continue building on this progress and finding new ways to protect and serve every resident of the Fabulous Fifth.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we reflect on the importance of seeking help and showing up for your community. allcove wellness and prevention in San Juan Capistrano do incredible work to engage youth ages 12-25 and support families with mental health counseling, physical health support, substance use prevention, education assistance, and employment guidance.

After OC Parks conducted a countywide study evaluating community interest in pickleball, Laguna Niguel Regional Park emerged as a natural fit as the first OC Parks facility to initially feature pickleball courts.
Today, these new and improved courts reflect our commitment to recreational spaces that bring people together, encourage an active lifestyle for residents, and increase use of our regional parks and green spaces.
H.R. 1 carries real consequences for Orange County.
The bill could shift up to $396 million in new costs onto the County of Orange, even while more than 100,000 residents risk losing benefits. When people lose coverage or food assistance, the pressure persists. It shows up at our food banks, in our emergency rooms, county services, homelessness response, and public safety systems.
Orange County already does more with less given we only receive .05 cents for every $1 paid in property tax — the lowest of all 58 counties in the state. We need Sacramento to step up and help counties cover these costs before local taxpayers get left holding the bill. Please contact your state legislators and urge them to support Orange County.
Home to 11 yacht clubs, the Fabulous Fifth harbors a rich maritime history. This weekend, we joined Balboa Yacht Club in celebrating 104th Opening Day — the perfect reflection of my office’s continued commitment to our boating community.
