Born and raised in Los Angeles, Russell has talked about the importance of clean air and community investments that especially benefit underrepresented communities that are most impacted by dirty air and underinvestment. As Road to 2028 Co-Chair, Russell will serve alongside LACI President and CEO Matt Petersen to help advocate for and inspire Commitments to Action from potential partners to benefit Greater LA communities, while sharing the story of California's climate innovation and leadership to a global audience. Westbrook shared, "With the Olympic and Paralympic Games just over two years away, I am so excited to partner with LACI as Co-Chair of the Road to 2028 to help accelerate clean energy, transportation, and clean air by the time the world arrives on July 14, 2028. Together, we can accelerate the deployment of and increase access to EVs, charging, clean energy, and other solutions in our communities–that is why I will be helping LACI attract partners and investment in our communities, local businesses, cleantech startups, and green jobs." 🎉 Congratulations to Tyfast on receiving their second working capital loan from the LACI Cleantech Debt Fund! 🎉 Tyfast is a battery materials company enabling diesel-grade lithium-ion batteries to power workhorse machines in the trucking, mining, construction and defense industries. Their first loan helped accelerate critical hardware purchases to scale their lithium-ion battery technology to prototypes. This second loan will support their next phase of growth: scaling from novel technology prototypes toward pre-pilots, enabling deeper customer engagement and faster progress toward commercialization. Founder GJ La O' shared, "LACI's Cleantech Debt Fund provides the kind of entrepreneurial support that is especially valuable for early-stage hardware companies. We're grateful for LACI's continued belief in Tyfast and for helping create growth opportunities that allow us to move with greater speed, confidence, and focus as we bring our technology closer to market." We're excited to continue to support Tyfast in their second phase of growth through the Cleantech Debt Fund!

In partnership with Warner Center Association, and with vehicles operated by LACI portfolio company @ride_circuit , LACI launched an EV shuttle service for the Warner Center Community a little over a month ago! The zero emissions micro-mobility pilot aims to bring clean, affordable transportation solutions to the local residents and will provide learnings for the potential scaling of new solutions. Here's a look at the impact the pilot has made in it's first month of service: 🚙 266 Miles Traveled ⚡️ 255 Completed Rides 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 339 Total Passengers If you live, work, or spend time near in the West San Fernando Valley, be sure to check out the new shuttle service!

🦺 Last week, the LACI team headed to portfolio company, Dyrt for a site visit! Dyrt is an AI-powered waste management software for enterprises, governments, and operators that audits waste data and reduces cost. The LACI team had the chance to hear how the startup is working with haulers in LA as well as stadiums in the region to identify savings and new opportunities through their data. It's great to see Dyrt working with multiple venues across LA to cut unnecessary waste. We look forward to seeing them grow and expand their services to new region.

🚴 🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♂️ Today marks the start of National Bike Month! Whether you're running errands, heading to work, or want to enjoy a day outdoors, riding a bike can help you save on gas and reduce emissions! Here are some ways LACI and our partners are providing accessible and affordable biking solutions to different communities: 🚲 🔋 Through our City Climate Innovation Challenge, the District Department of Transportation @ddotdc in Washington DC has developed a last mile e-bike delivery pilot to help transition food delivery drivers from gas mopeds to electric low speed vehicle alternatives. The pilot has just reached the milestone of 15,000 zero emission deliveries made and provided gig delivery drivers 5% more revenue at roughly half the cost, compared to driving a combustion vehicle. 🚲 ☀️ Powered by LACI and operated by @pedalmovement , @good2go_ebikes is a shared fleet of E-bikes and E-cargo bikes exclusive to Rancho San Pedro residents. This first-of-its-kind mobility hub is fully off-grid, modular and solar powered. The pilot program brings affordable emissions-free transportation options to individuals, families, and the community. Residents can borrow the bikes for a leisurely ride, to run errands, visit new places, or exercise. 🚲 📚 The @sc_powerup E-Bike Lending Library supports the South Central community with up to 250 e-bikes to help riders get around more easily, reliably and affordably! An alternative to gas powered vehicles that emit harmful pollutants, e-bikes provide a cleaner, more sustainable transportation option for residents to enjoy. This e-bike fleet offers commuter, cargo and adaptive bikes. The program is a result of over a year of collaboration, outreach, and organizing from the community organizations that will serve as hubs to rent e-bikes and provide training to participants, including @peopleformobilityjustice @rideonbikecoop , @ridewitus_la @scope_la @trust_south_la @mercadolapaloma @fightsoulcities and @csuinc The next time you're headed on an errand or need to get some fresh air, consider riding a bike!
