@billnye , Chief Ambassador of @planetarysociety , turned our studio into a rocket science lab, teaching some young science students about how NASA sent the Artemis II crew into space, around the moon and back to Earth.

We’re headed back to the Moon with the launch of Artemis II! I remember the first Moon landing like it was yesterday - it inspired generations and changed the world - I know this one will do the same.

Wow. A Lifetime Achievement Award, all? I’m humbled. I put everything I had into the TV shows I’ve worked on, and I loved making shows that encouraged kids to embrace science. Thank you to the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. I’m honored to be recognized in this way. It’s yet another reminder of the impact we can have on those around us when we invest in science education - because I believe it can change the world. 📸: The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences

15 years ago, I was asked to take on the role of chief executive officer of The Planetary Society. At the time, I did not feel especially qualified as a producer, host, and head writer of a kids’ show, but the board had faith in me, and so I had faith I could do it. Over these 15 years, I’ve had the honor of working alongside the smartest and brightest people, and ensuring our space advocacy is unmatched in our reach, credibility, and impact. Evenmoreso, I’ve come to understand that we have a chance to save the world. My time as CEO has been wonderful, but it’s time for me to step aside. While I will no longer be in this role, I won’t fully be leaving The Planetary Society. I’ll continue serving on the board of directors and will transition into a new role as our first chief ambassador. In this position, I’ll represent our organization publicly, keep in close communication with our members, and continue to champion space exploration in the halls of Congress. Our remarkable chief operating officer, Jennifer Vaughn, will take over as CEO. She has been my closest partner in leading the organization and is a natural leader with a clear vision for the future. We could not be in better hands. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey with me. We’ve done some incredible things together, from launching Light Sail 2, to raising our collective voices to save NASA funding last month. If that’s not the best way to close this chapter, I’m not sure what is, but I look forward to all the things we will continue to accomplish together. Science rules.
