Well, this is not the holiday post I wanted to make but the life lesson is still here. Cherish every moment you get to spend with your family and friends. They can disappear in an instance. We lost my dear friend over the weekend, and it does NOT seem real. I know he’s touched many lives and I know the loss is felt by all. 💔 Immense sadness and devastation is what I feel, but I will try to push through and just remember all of the great times we had over the decades, sometimes just chilling and chatting, going deep on so many topics, but even the hazing (which he was too darned good at, so sharp, never missing a beat).
Thank you for sharing your love, your wisdom, and your strength with me. Thank you for opening up, trusting and letting me be a confidante for you as well. Thank you for always believing in me, and making sure I know I’m a badass. Thank you for being there through one of my toughest battles with my other besties #fuckcancer There are so many things I want to just turn around and text you, but now I can’t get the wise cracks or nuggets of brilliance in return. Who can match your nerd knowledge?! I will miss you so much, Vince. I love you forever. 🫶🏼❤️

Spend time with the ones you love, and tell them you love them, every time. I didn’t get to see Reza these last few months as I bailed on his NYE event bc I was still devastated and in a state of disbelief with Vince’s passing. Then I flaked the last time bc I was too exhausted to drive an hour to see him. I did speak with him though, and we did tell eo we loved one another, which gives me some peace. I fear we are losing people at an alarming rate these days, so again, the lesson is to live every day to its fullest. Whatever that means for you. Do something nice for someone (even yourself every once in a while), every day. Like Reza would. So much love to give. #smile #love #togetherasone #flylikeaneagle

And, I’m learning the hard way now. Always try to make time for your old buddies. Found out on the drive home that I’ve lost another loooong time friend, whom I had put off seeing the last few months bc I was too exhausted to go dancing or hang out in the recording studio. Damn. 😢
Four years ago right now, I was just in surgery for my total thyroidectomy. I was super scared and alone before going in because it was still post pandemic and they wouldn’t let @korinfaught back with me. But, super #thankful for my besties Korin & Serene @deathc00kie for always being there. Korin took care of me for a whole week!!! And super thankful to have met the #loveofmylife just a month and a half later. When I told him I had cancer, he said, “so what, everybody’s got something.” 🫠 In any case, just want to thank everyone who’s cared, given support, etc. through this journey. I still have the terrible gagging and a couple of other issues (along with all the issues that come with aging), with so many doc appts, but grateful to still be here! #xoxo #fuckcancer #livelife 🙏🏼🤗

Sunday evening was sad but lovely. What a great way to celebrate the life of Michael Cook. I wasn’t really close friends with him, but knew him from around the scene in the early days. So much love though in our #oldschool #housemusic scene, I really do miss it and all my friends I used to go dancing with weekly. Hope to see everyone more often though, moving forward.
