We were sooooo lucky this trip to Kauai with the #wildlife There were #monkseal #pups at almost every #beach we went to (I was sick all weekend so missed a couple days) and were graced with the presence of FOUR large #seaturtles at once in Ppipu! Too bad they were surrounded by human soup as well. Can’t win’em all. Same with the pups. I was lucky to witness behavior I had never seen before as they we were way more active than I’d ever seen. This mama and pup had moved to maybe their evening sleeping spot at the tree line? But the pup was very restless and chomping at the vegetation. The last is just a pup on a beach, pictured with trash from humans. The sad state of our environment… We picked up what we could around the pup, but the can was too close, and we always have to keep our distance to the wildlife, for everyone’s safety. #hawaii #travel
I’ve never seen #monkseal #pups and #moms so active in #hawaii before. I’ve only ever witnessed them sleeping very soundly on beaches. We were very lucky, though I’ve also never been sunburnt like this before 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ It was very overcast and a bit rainy when we headed out and I honestly didn’t know it was that long of a trail.
