February 1
Our daughter arrived on a full moon day, a month ahead of her due date. Her name is Toi.
She came into the world a little small and spent some time in the NICU, but last night we finally brought her home. It feels like it took forever to get here, but today turned out to be the best Valentine’s Day.
The first time she held my hand was 100 days after the last time I held my grandfather’s hand. He passed away recently.
I wish he could have met her. I like to think he’s somewhere, watching over us.
It feels like the baton has been passed from my grandfather to my daughter.
And above all, my deepest gratitude to my partner , who made it look so easy and is already calm and strong.
Happy Valentine’s Day Ayaka & Toi
